Future Tense Project

ExpositionGary is starting 10th grade. He has a talent for language arts and wants to impress the new language arts teacher Mr. Smith. Gary soon finds out that Mr. Smith, looks as if he fits his own name, middle aged, average height, etc…

MiddleGary receives his first assignment from his language arts teacher. His assignment is to write a composition. Gary decides to do his on Sci-Fi. Mr. Smith does not like his piece and writes “You can do better”, at the top of his paper. After several edits, Mr. Smith keeps writing back notes, that are less than positive, like ”I know this is not your best effort”. Eventually Gary gets frustrated and decides to adds aliens and other absurd things. Mr. Smith reaches his limit and writes “See me”.

Rising Action

During the rising action portion, Gary begins to think that Mr. Smith may actually be an alien who is trying to take over Earth. After a meeting with Mr. Smith and Vice Principal Jones, Gary is told by both that Sci-Fi is not permitted, without any legitimate reasons/explanations. This just makes Gary even more suspicious, so he decides to tell the principal, Dr. Procter about his hunch.

ClimaxThe climax starts when

Gary finds out that Dr. Procter himself, is an alien!

Then Dr. Procter takes off the top of his wristwatch and prepares to strike Gary with a laser beam.

This is the climax because it sends fear into the reader’s mind.

Falling action

Dr. Proctor abducts Gary by beaming him to his planet in an effort to prevent him from telling people about his true identity.
