    Job Title: FUTURE Teacher Openings 2013-14

    Wage/Hour Status: Exempt

    Dept./School:

    Primary Purpose:

    Teaches and facilitates learning for students, maintaining academic progress, discipline and records.Works with parents and students to provide and implement individualized education to meet the needs of all students.

    Qualifications:

    Education and/or Experience

    Must be Highly Qualified (HQ) with a minimum of a Bachelor's degree (B.A.or B.S.) from four-year collegeor university. In addition to the four year degree a passing score on the TExES in the subject is requiredfor Highly Qualified Status. Teachers Certification in subject to be taught is another option for HighlyQualified status. Teacher Certification is recommended but not required.

    Special Knowledge/Skills:

    Knowledge of federal and state education law Ability to understand the individual needs of students Understanding of goal setting for students and the individualized approach General knowledge of curriculum and instruction

    Ability to communicate with all levels of students and their parents Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills A general knowledge of the computer, and must be able to learn and implement OdysseyWare

    curriculum softwareprogram and instruct students on utilization. Ability to work with children, passion for children, patience is a plus, ability to transition with

    changes.

    Experience:

    Teaching experience in the public school setting preferred

    Major Responsibilities and Duties:

    Instructional and Program Management

    Administers Diagnostic Tests to determine a students performance level and assigns curriculumaccordingly

    Prepares academic projections for all students and prepares a course of study followingcurriculum guidelines or requirements of state and school

    Instructs and motivates students in all course study Assigns lessons and corrects homework Administers tests to evaluate pupil progress, records results, and issues reports to inform parents

    of progress Maintains discipline in the classroom

    Maintains a learning center that is conducive to learning, is safe, attractive and stimulating(displays students work)

    Sets a good housekeeping example in the learning center and encourages students to follow thisexample

    Schedules periodic meetings with parents to discuss student progress and problems Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences and teacher training

    workshops Inspires students with consistency, care, and interest to build students self-esteem and promote

    further success Praises students, compliments them and encourages them in order to build character Utilizes a variety of learning methods to enhance the students learning experiences Prepares an individualized plan to promote students success on the states assessment

    instrument Works closely with the Special Education teacher to ensure special education students

    modifications are being implemented Performs related duties such as sponsoring one or more activities or student organizations,

    assisting students in selecting courses of study, and counseling students in adjustment andacademic problems

    May conduct student assemblies

    Other Requirements:

    Master the Responsive Education Solutions Individualized Learning System in order to assist thestudents in mastering the system

    Read and comply with the Procedures Manual, Student Handbook, Student Code of Conduct,and the Employee Handbook

    Potential Supervisory Responsibilities:

    Directly supervises one to two Paraprofessionals. The teacher carries out supervisory responsibilities inaccordance with the schools policies. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning,and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing

    complaints and resolving problems.
