Future Security Concerns
Cell phones, PDAs and
Next-Gen Gaming Consoles
Cell Phones
• Relativly safe
• Takes a long time to exploit vulnerabilities.
• Most Phones use java
• Need to run a “midlet”
Smartphones
• Stores more than just phone numbers
• Basically a PDA/phone combo
• Uses an Operating System
• Microsoft, Symbian, Palm has OS’s
• 1 virus can target lots of Smartphones
Bluetooth
• Bluesniper Rifle
• Can scan devices from just over 1 mile
• Can easily detect devices in “discoverable” mode
PDAs
• Vulnerable just like desktops/laptops
• Viruses, trojans, physical theft, wireless exploitation are a few
• Be careful when you “hotsync”
Gaming Consoles
• Bill Gates and his grand planes for XBOX 360
• Wants to link it up with your PC
• Online gaming could leave XBOX and PC vulnerable
