This unit has taught me that the market for internship positions is highly competitive….students should do anything and everything they can to give them a competitive advantage – no matter how small. It also helped me understand that students have a responsibility to attain their own internship or graduate role and it will not be ‘spoon-fed’ to them –students need to be proactive if they want to become a successful applicant.Steve, 1st year

– Recruit for information days, project challenges in 1est or 2nd

year, and then invite high performers to attend the next

event or project, leading to summer vacation and internship

roles. Graduate roles filled from this pipeline

• Networking– Attend or sponsor information days. Look for the self

motivated students who attend and informally interview.

– Require good writing skills, ability to respond directly to the requested information (criteria)
