Edward DoanLead EDU Customer Engineer for the Google Cloud Customer Team

Edward Doan is a Google Cloud customer engineer based in Austin, TX. His primary focus is on helping universities succeed at their research and teaching missions using cloud computing via Google Cloud Platform. He is also an adjunct professor of Management Information Systems at the University of Texas at Austin McCombs School of Business.

E. Michael Fincke (Colonel, U.S. Air Force, Ret.), NASA Astronaut

Col. E. Michael Fincke was selected as an astronaut by NASA in 1996. The Pennsylvania native is the veteran of three spaceflights, Expedition 9 in 2004, Expedition 18 in 2009, and STS-134 in 2011. For Expedition 9, he served as science officer and flight engineer during his six-month stay onboard the International Space Station. While there, he performed four spacewalks. For Expedition 18, Col. Fincke served as commander, where he and his crew prepared the

station for future six-person crews. For STS-134, he served as mission specialist and completed three spacewalks. Currently, Col. Fincke is serving as the branch chief for the Commercial Crew Branch working closely with the commercial providers to develop their new spacecraft systems, which will eventually provide round trip crew transportation services to the International Space Station. The initial test flights are scheduled for 2017. Col. Fincke graduated from Sewickley Academy, Sewickley, Pennsylvania, in 1985. He attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) on an Air Force Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) scholarship and graduated in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science in aeronautics and astronautics as well as a Bachelor of Science in earth, atmospheric and planetary sciences. This was followed by a Master of Science in aeronautics and astronautics from Stanford University in 1990. He was awarded an Associate of Science Degree in earth sciences (geology) from El Camino College in Torrance, California, in 1993 and a second Master of Science in physical sciences (planetary geology) from the University of Houston - Clear Lake in 2001.

In addition to two NASA Distinguished Service Medals and three NASA Spaceflight Medals, Col. Fincke is a recipient of the first International Space

Station Leadership Award as well as the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, and Meritorious Service Medals, among others for his military service. He is a Distinguished Graduate from the U.S. Air Force ROTC, Squadron Officer School and Test Pilot School Programs and the recipient of the U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School Col. Ray Jones Award as the Top Flight Test Engineer/Flight Test Navigator in class 93B.

Adelina KamalExecutive Director, AHA Centre

Adelina Kamal currently serves as the Executive Director of the ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance (AHA Centre). She joined the AHA Centre in November 2016 as the Deputy Executive Director, and was appointed as the Executive Director by the Governing Board of the AHA Centre in mid-August 2017. Before joining the AHA Centre, Ms. Kamal worked for the ASEAN Secretariat for over 20 years. Her last position with the

ASEAN Secretariat was director for Sustainable Development Directorate under the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) Department. She first worked on program development and evaluation and international cooperation for four years until 1998, and then environment, land and forest fires and transboundary haze pollution starting in 1998, where she was involved in the development and negotiation of the ASEAN Agreement on Transboundary Haze Pollution.

In early 2004, Ms. Kamal was entrusted by the Secretary-General of ASEAN to handle the ASEAN cooperation on disaster management, which at that time, was still at an early stage. She played a major role in developing the disaster management portfolio into one of the highest priority areas of cooperation in ASEAN. She initiated the development and negotiation of the ASEAN Agreement on Disaster Management and Emergency Response and its Work Programs, and played a key role in the establishment of the AHA Centre. Ms. Kamal has also played a major role in ASEAN’s response to major disasters in the ASEAN region, particularly following Cyclone Nargis in Myanmar in May 2008 where she set up ASEAN’s first ever large-scale humanitarian operations, in support of the Secretary-General of ASEAN.

Ms. Kamal has a Master’s degree in management from IPMI Business School in Indonesia; an MBA degree from Monash University in Melbourne, Australia; and a Bachelor’s degree in management from Trisakti University in Indonesia.

Lieutenant General Paul M. NakasoneCommanding General, U.S. Army Cyber Command

Lieutenant General Paul M. Nakasone assumed command of U.S. Army Cyber Command on Oct. 14, 2016.

LTG Nakasone has held command and staff positions across all levels of the Army with assignments in the United States, the Republic of Korea, Iraq, and Afghanistan. Prior to his appointment as Commander of U.S. Army Cyber Command, LTG Nakasone commanded the Cyber National Mission Force at U.S. Cyber Command. LTG Nakasone has also commanded

a company, battalion, and brigade, and served as the senior intelligence officer at the battalion, division and corps levels.

LTG Nakasone has served in Army assignments in the United States, the Republic of Korea, Iraq, and Afghanistan. His most recent overseas posting was as the Director of Intelligence, J2, International Security Assistance Force Joint Command in Kabul, Afghanistan. He has also served on two occasions as a staff officer on the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

LTG Nakasone is a graduate of the U.S. Army War College, the Command and General Staff College, and Defense Intelligence College. He holds graduate degrees from the U.S. Army War College, the National Defense Intelligence College, and the University of Southern California.

LTG Nakasone’s awards and decorations include the Distinguished Service Medal, the Defense Superior Service Medal (with three oak leaf clusters), Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Defense Meritorious Service Medal (with oak leaf cluster), Army Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal (with oak leaf cluster), Army Achievement Medal (with four oak leaf clusters), Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Iraq Campaign Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Combat Action Badge, and the Joint Chiefs of Staff Identification Badge.

A native of White Bear Lake, Minnesota, the general is a graduate of Saint John’s University in Collegeville, Minnesota, where he received his commission through the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps. He and his wife are the proud parents of four children, who form the nucleus of “Team Nakasone.”

Thomas RimmeleProject Director and Lead Scientist, Daniel K. Inouye Solar Telescope

Dr. Thomas Rimmele is project director and lead scientist of the Daniel K. Inouye Solar Telescope (DKIST) project located on Haleakalā. Designed and developed to meet the needs of critical high resolution and high sensitivity spectral and polarimetric observations of the sun, DKIST will observe with unprecedented resolution and sensitivity solar magnetism and

its influence on Earth and our technological society. Dr. Rimmele received his PhD from the University of Freiburg, Germany. He is a tenured astronomer at the National Solar Observatory and is affiliated with the New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark, NJ the University of Colorado in Boulder, CO. As associate director at NSO and he is responsible for the construction and the operations of DKIST. Dr. Rimmele works closely with US and international partners, including the University of Hawai‘i’s Institute for U.S. Astronomy where two of the five state-of-the-art DKIST instruments are being built. His research interests include development of solar adaptive optics and multi-conjugate adaptive optics, high resolution imaging techniques and the study of solar magnetic fields and the origins of solar activity.

John RothVice President, Business Development, Sierra Nevada Corporation’s Space Systems

John Roth currently serves as the vice president of business development for Sierra Nevada Space Systems where he is responsible for new business acquisition and customer relations for all product lines which include spacecraft, propulsion and environmental systems, space technologies, and space exploration. Mr. Roth served as president of MicroSat Systems Inc. from 2002 until its acquisition by Sierra Nevada Corporation in 2008.

Prior to joining MicroSat Systems, Mr. Roth was vice president of the Electronic Combat Business Unit for Litton Advanced Systems. Programs under his leadership included major defense systems such as the Joint Strike Fighter Electronic Warfare suite, ICAP III electronic warfare suite for the Navy E-2C carrier aircraft, and the Advanced Integrated Electronic Warfare System (AIEWS) for Navy surface ships. Prior to joining Litton, Mr. Roth was director of Colorado Springs Operations for Lockheed Martin Electronic Defense Systems, which provided direct support to the Air Force Space Command’s Space Warfare Center at Falcon AFB. Mr. Roth has also held positions at Litton Amecom as director of advanced programs, at HRB-Singer as electronic warfare programs manager, and at Hughes Aircraft Ground Systems Group as manager of the Processor Architecture group.

Mr. Roth holds a BS in computer science engineering from the University of Illinois and an MS in electrical engineering from the University of Southern California. He has attended the Harvard Business School Executive Education program in Management and Leadership and the Wharton Business School Executive Education Program in Finance. He has served on the board of directors of the Colorado Space Business Roundtable, the Advisory Board of the Colorado Space Grant Consortium, the National Executive Space Council for the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA), and the Board of Directors for the Center for Space Entrepreneurship. Mr. Roth is an Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) and is a Corresponding Member of the International Academy of Astronautics

Angelo RoxasSenior Executive Advisor, Booz Allen Hamilton

Senior Executive Advisor Angelo Roxas provides senior leadership in the Singapore office. Angelo focuses on defining and implementing the firm’s cyber strategy and consulting capabilities in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region.

Prior to Booz Allen, Angelo was the co-head of technology at Barclays Investment Bank in Asia-Pacific, responsible for the

delivery of transformation programs and governance in the region. During his 11 years with Barclays, he held numerous senior technology roles, including chief operating officer for IT Asia-Pacific, head of Technology Risk Asia-Pacific, and global chief operating officer for operations technology, among others. Angelo also led global front to back initiatives and project implementations within the bank.

Prior to his time at Barclays, Angelo worked in Booz Allen’s London office as an IT strategist and program manager providing consulting services to private and government sector clients in Europe, the Middle East and the Americas. He focused on the intersection between information technology, business strategy, and business process reengineering. Angelo started his career in the U.S. with Ernst & Young in the enterprise resource planning and customer relationship management consulting practice.

Angelo is a co-founder and advisor to start-up companies and social enterprises and is the president of the University of Pennsylvania and Wharton alumni club of Singapore. He has an engineering degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a master’s in telecommunications from Pennsylvania State University.

Gary SandersProject Manager, Thirty Meter Telescope

Gary Sanders spent 25 years performing high-energy physics experiments at laboratories in the United States and Europe. He earned a BA degree in physics from Columbia University and a PhD in high-energy physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has been a faculty member in physics at Princeton University and a scientist at Los Alamos National Laboratory. In 1994, Mr. Sanders came to Caltech to serve as the project manager and deputy director for the Laser Interferometer

Gravitational Wave Observatory (LIGO) project which recently detected gravitational waves from coalescing black holes. Mr. Sanders became the TMT project manager in 2004. He is the author or a co-author of more than 225 peer-reviewed publications and he has been elected a Fellow of the American Physical Society.
