VPAA Reports to:
The University / College President
Functional Relationships:Works closely with the President, Division Chairs, the Vice President for Administration, Executive Director of Human Resources, and other departments as necessary, and maintains regular contact with
appropriate System Office personnel.

Major Duties/Essential Functions• The VPAA may assume some duties of
the President in his/ her absence;• Oversees all facets of instruction,
including course schedule planning, faculty evaluation, faculty development, curriculum development, faculty / staff hiring and supervision;
• Administer college policies within assigned instructional program areas;
• Administer all aspects of instructional budget development after appropriate data collection and collaboration with appropriate instructional personnel and the other Vice Presidents;
• Approve the disbursement of funds from the approved instructional budget throughout the fiscal year;
• Develop and update a long- range plan for the entire instructional program in line with the college's strategic plan;
• Oversee the preparation of materials regarding instruction for the college catalog and other publications;
• Assist with identification and prioritization of equipment needs, and purchases for assigned program areas;
• Serves on college-wide committees and works with the other VPs and administrators in a team environment;
• Serve as a member of the Executive Team in creating and maintaining an open, collaborative, and inclusive college environment focused on student learning and student success;
• Provide guidance for advisory committees in assigned program areas and assist with problem solving as it relates to faculty and student issues;
• Lead student outcomes assessment for assigned areas and supervise collection of data and maintenance of outcomes records;
• Responsible for a program of institutional accreditation.
• Serves as a member of the Academic Leadership Team and effectively communicate outcomes to other areas on campus;
• Lead internal and external program review, institutional effectiveness processes, accreditation and other assessment activities in assigned areas.
• Promote the university by participating in community, state, and national events or meetings and by developing partnership with industry and secondary education institutions;
• Establish operational policies and procedures and make any necessary modifications, based on analysis of operations, demographics, & other research information;
• Has the responsibility for offices that support student success: the Registrar, Library, Educational Technology, and institutional research program;
• Responsible for development, review, and implementation of academic policies and procedures, assessment, budgeting for academic programs and faculty personnel actions, including re-appointment, promotion and tenure;
• Guides and shapes academics through the recruitment, development, and retention of a diverse and progressive faculty and academic staff;
• Coordinates and administers the review and approval process for the introduction of all new academic courses/programs and for the revision of existing courses/programs
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Demonstrates academic leadership,
excellent communication & interpersonal skills, and good judgment;
Ability to formulate and articulate sound policies and demonstrates ability to identify, resolve, consult on a wide range of administrative and personnel issues with a clear sense of institutional needs and priorities; Strong organizational & management skills.
Qualifications:• A master’s degree in a related field is required; earned doctorate preferred and a record of
teaching excellence, service, & scholarship commensurate with that of a tenured professor.
• Significant experience at the level of Dean or above including experience in the development and administration of curriculum, budget, personnel, strategic planning, and the use of technology in higher education.
• A commitment to affirmative action principles.• Administrative experience in a collective
bargaining environment is highly desirable.
