Task A

You are about to move into a rented house with some friends. The landlord, Mr Hardacre, has asked you and your friends to sign a form to say that everything in the house is in good condition. However, when you go to check the house, you realise that not everything is in good condition. Your friend takes some photos as proof. You decide to write a letter to the landlord, describing the actual state of the house. Write a formal letter to the landlord. In your letter

• Explain who you are and why you are writing

• Say why you cannot sign the form you have been given

• Describe at least four things in the house that are in poor condition (e.g. carpets, wallpaper, cooker), saying what is wrong with them

• Offer to send the photos your friend took

• Request a new, accurate form for you and your friends to sign.

Write 120-150 words. Remember to set out your letter correctly. There is no need to include the landlord’s address.
