Senior Club Annual Members Meeting
and Holiday Party

Thursday, December 6
2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. The important business of the election of the Senior
Club officers and a new director will be the purpose of
the annual meeting and luncheon, and members are
encouraged to attend and vote. It is also a time for
members to gather and enjoy the warm spirit of the
holidays. Live entertainment will be provided by the 5
Star Band, and guests will share a special holiday meal,
along with a fun door-prize giveaway. New members
are welcome to attend and may sign up for their 2019
membership as well as get acquainted and enjoy the
festivities!
Thyroid: Medication & Management
Wednesday, December 12
9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. Join nurse Lori Funke from the Orange County Health
Agency who will lead a special discussion about
managing your thyroid. Learn how the thyroid
functions, the differences between hypothyroidism and
hyperthyroidism, and what medications are used to
treat thyroid disorders.
Guided Autobiography Class
Wednesdays, (5 Week Session)
January 9: 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
January 16 through February 6: 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Are you looking for a way to make a record of your
life? Guided Autobiography (GAB) is a process that
helps you recall and record the significant moments of
your life. Through this interactive class experience, you
will learn the tools for writing your own life story.
Class time is also used for writing tips, reminiscing,
and creative exercises. This free program is presented
by Volunteer Action for Aging, a SCAN Community
Service.

difficult time for others. In the final class of this program,
learn how to beat the holiday blues and how to make
goals for a healthier you in the new year. Get 2019

Creative Hour: Collage, Color
& Chat
Monday, December 10
9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. Help bring your imagination to life! Join us for a relaxing
morning of fun and creativity. Participating in this
creative hour will help you relieve stress, obtain focus,
and stimulate your mind. It will also be a great time to
socialize. We will provide magazines for cutting,
scissors, glue and poster boards. Please bring your own
coloring books and coloring instruments if you would
like to color. A light breakfast will also be served. Space
is limited, sign up today!

Spotlighting our Senior Club Members
Meet Vincent P.! He is 95 years old and is
originally from Canada. Vince served for 4
years in the Royal Canadian Air Force.
Thanks for your service in World War II!
His father also served in World War I.
Vince has been a Senior Club member for
20 years. He enjoys coming here and play-
ing pool. Vince participates in the Begin-
ning Drama class and Senior Reading Club.
He also sculpts on the side as a hobby. His
wife, Fay, calls him her Renaissance Man
because of his gentlemanly ways.
He contributes his longevity to bicycling for
over 50 years throughout the USA and
Canada. He is a well-rounded man and has
made his 95 years of life experiences count!

A Message from Your Senior Club President,
Pauline Aguero: October was a busy month and now the Halloween Bash is over.
Those who attended had a great time and some who were in cos-

Our big event for December is our Annual Election Meeting and
Holiday Party. It will be open to members only and you may join
for 2019 at the door. The membership fee is $10.00. The candi-
dates for the Board were included in the November newsletter.
Doors will open at 1:30pm and the event will run 2:00 p.m. to
5:00 p.m. We will have the election, a complimentary luncheon,
dancing, and door prizes. Join us as we celebrate the holidays.
Along with our regular scheduled activities we will be having a
variety of events, such as Creative Hour: Collage, Color & Chat
on December 10th and the Thyroid Presentation by Nurse Lori
Funke on December 12th .There is always something interesting
going on here at the center. Let’s get out there and participate in
something new!
We are always open to new ideas for programs, which is why we
encourage you to bring them in and let us know what you would
like to see happen at the Fullerton Community Center. For this,
please contact Ginger Ivey, she is the Senior Coordinator and
would love to hear your suggestions. Stop by and chat with her or

December 21 - “Christopher Robin” - Christopher Robin, now a middle
-aged man living in London, receives a surprise visit from his childhood

December 28 - “The Last Movie Star” - When an aging movie star
agrees to travel to Nashville to accept an award, he is faced with reality

Learn How to Ride the Bus
Tuesday, January 8, 2019: 9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
If you’ve ever wanted to start riding the bus or if you
would you like to learn more about local transportation,
this informative workshop will give you all of the tools
that you need. Learn all about reduced fare options and
fare pay, how to read the bus schedule, and how to safely
board and exit the bus. Also learn about ADA accessibil-
ity standards and the use of mobility devices. Free indi-
vidual and/or small group travel training will be available.
Fraud Targeting Older Adults
Tuesday, January 15, 2019: 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.
Don’t be fooled! This informative seminar will focus on
different types of fraud and common scams that criminals
use to steal from vulnerable elders. You will learn ways
to protect yourself and prevent fraud from happening to
you. Presented by Ted Burnett from Office of the Orange
County District Attorney.
Cookbook Swap & Meet Up

Join us for this wonderful meet up! Bring any cookbooks
you’d like to pass on, and find a new one to take home.
This is a great opportunity to swap books and recipes,
