How to apply
To apply you need to complete the international application form and attach
a copy of the identification page of your passport and copies of any school,
college or university qualifications, and any English tests taken such as IELTS.

Full Time English Language at Coleg Menai
Courses are offered to students of all levels from beginner to advanced.
Course content includes general English for beginner and elementary level
students who wish to learn reading, writing, speaking and listening, and general
and academic English for pre-intermediate level and above who wish to
progress onto degree or masters programmes at UK universities.
Students who already have a degree and wish to progress to a masters
programme can take our internal assessment which consists of an internal
exam and a 2,000 word assignment, IELTS equivalent results are shown on the
end of course certificate.
The content of the English language course will develop to suit the students’
needs and progress during the period of study. Regular testing and assessments
are completed during the course.
Full time study takes place on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday each week
from 9.15am to 3.15pm. Minimum attendance of 85% is required with any
absence reported to the ESOL Department or International Office.
Course start dates:
Students are able to start on the dates shown in the table below

January start dates can be arranged subject to course availability. Please check
with the International Office.
Initial assessments take place on the Friday before your course start date. The
assessment usually takes about 2 hours. If you start on Monday 4th September
your assessment will take place during induction week.
After the assessment students are advised on how long they need to study to
reach the level they need to progress.
Students are able to take Trinity Skills for Life ESOL examinations during the
course, the exam fees are included. Exams are taken during spring and
summer terms. If you need to take an IELTS test for visa, progression or if
required by your sponsor, students have to pay the cost of this test themselves.
Please note that if you require an IELTS for visa purposes, you will need to take
the UKVI IELTS test at Manchester which is our nearest testing centre.
Term Dates:-
Autumn Term: 4th September to 15th December 2017 (14 weeks)
Spring Term: 9th January to 23rd March 2018 (10 weeks)
Summer Term: 9th April to 15th June 2018 (9 weeks)
There are half term holidays of one week each term, and they are at the same
time as the school half term holidays.
Course costs in 2017-18
£5,400.00 for the academic year payable at the start of the course (self-funding
students are required to pay a deposit of £2,000.00), or £160.00 per week, if
studying for less than one year. Fees are to be paid termly if students are spon-
sored by their government.
Sponsored students are given an offer letter which they then forward to their
embassy to obtain their financial sponsorship letter. You may still start the
course if you have not received your letter from your embassy when your
course is due to start.
