1 - MAYCOCK’S REEF

The northernmost dive site dived regularly by dive shops—although it is not dived frequently because of it’s location.Most reefs in Barbados run parallel to the shore, this is oneof the exceptions running perpendicular to the shore. Thereef system consists of fi ngers of reef running to shore in60-100 feet of water, t he fi ngers are separat ed by sandvalleys approxim ately 50-100 feet apart. These fi ngers runout seaward for around 500 feet then drop of into deepwater, 140 feet and more. Lots of Parrot fi sh are on this sitewhich makes for a very colorful dive!

2 - BRIGHT LEDGE

Bright Ledge is another colorful site because of the colors on thereef! There is a very wide variety of corals and sponges which allcompete for space on this reef—one of natures coral jigsaws! As withthe abundance of cora ls, this refl ects in the fi sh life also . Barracudasand turtles are regularly found on this site.

3 - PAMIR WRECK

This 70 foot wreck has become a haven for smaller fi sh. Thewreck was sunk to enhance all types of marine life in thearea, its shal low profi le makes the wrec k a good fi rst dive orfor use as a refresher dive.

4 - GREAT LEDGE

One of Barbados’ widest reefs, Great Ledge forms part of ouroffshore barrier reef system. This reef is frequented by schoolingbarracudas in the winter months. Also found on this reef are turtles,jacks, blue c hromis, tru nkfi sh, cowfi sh, spotte d drums and f renchangels, as well as spotted Morays.

5 - FARM

The Farm is a small circular reef in a very popular area, thereef is in good condition despite its depth of 50-80 feet.

7 - MULLINS

A really great dive for the beginner and advanced diver alike,with lots of small tropical fi sh and creatures to see includingseahorse, and the unusual tropicals. Southern stingrays areseen here due to composition—interspersed coral with sandpatches—making this reef a place where rays forage on.

6 - MEETING HOUSE

A site at the end of the Reads Bay reef system—with  the north endof the reef dropping below our safe dive limits and then climbing tothe 80-60 feet depth at Spawnee. There are lot’s of ledges with thepotential for nurse sharks and the bigger green morays to inhabit,making Meeting House a very pretty reef with a slightly differentstructure to it’s counterparts.

8 - SPAWNEE

As with most of the reefs described, permanent mooringshave ensured that the reefs don’t suffer anchor damage.

Spawnee is no exceptio n, refl ecting in the amou nt of healthyreef and fi sh life, Carib bean reef squi d and lots of trum petfi sh abound as well as th e usual smal l tropicals.

9 - READ’S BAY

This reef is always full of black jacks, groupers and eDespite its depth this reef

This reef is home to large sIt is one of the few reefs thit. While diving, one may occasional green moray.

21 - CARLISLE BAY MARINE PARK

These six wrecks are visited on the same dive, a very goodfi rst dive for beginners, re-ent ry divers, photographe rs andnight dives. Lots of tropical fi sh and marine life are concen-trated on thes e wrecks. Frog fi sh and sea h orses are oftenseen on this dive. There are also lots of old anchors andcannons which litter the bottom.

21 - BERWIND

Berwind is a 70 foot long World War French Tug boat which  was damaged by a German U-boat, and scuttled by her crewin 1919.

21 - EILLON

An 110 foot freighter sunk on the 8 th of June, 1996 to form part ofCarlisle Bay Marine Park . The ship was a former drug boat, and wastied up for six years. This wreck is easily accessible for penetration.

21 - CE-TREKThe Ce-Trek, a derelict boat constructed of cement was sunkin January 1986 and has attracted lots of marine life.

21 - CORNWALLIS

A Canadian freighter sunk by a torpedo from a German U-boatduring World War II. This wreck was relocated to this Marine

Reserve on the 22nd of October 2000, because it was lying in a hightraffi c area and was sufferin g anchor damage.

21 - BARGE

A Naval landing barge found in Carlisle Bay.

21 - BAJAN QUEEN

The Bajan Queen was Barbados’ fi rst tug boat—known asthe “Pelican”,—when the Bridgetown Harbor was beingconstructed in the 1960s. One decade later as more moderntugboats were purchased, the Bajan Queen was convertedinto a “Party Boat” which holds many memories for thou-

sands of Barbadians. She was sunk on 19 th May, 2002 andhas already starte d to become a home to many tropi cal fi sh.

34 - THE MUFF

Home of the famous orange sponge coral, this steep-sidedvirgin reef is frequented by horse-eyes and blackjacks, toname a few.

35 - CLOSE ENCOUNTERS

Close Encounters is an inner reef that is good for feeding fi shand interacting with lots of marine life, including stingrays.

39 - WELCOME INN

Welcome Inn is one of our most southern reefs. This reef’sformation is unique and very different from our other reefs.Welcome Inn breaks off into different directions—a niceshallow dive with lots of turtles and snappers.

32 - SANDY BEACH

This reef is connected to the Boot and is similar in characteris-tics with lots of turtles, barracudas, regular sightings of eaglerays and a nice drift dive.

33 - BOOT

This nice drift dive has lots of turtles. Boot also has regular sightingsof eagle rays. Good marine life inhabit a small derelict Coast Guardboat that was sunk here.

36 -  NEEDLE

This reef is between Mount Charlie and Close Encounters withunderwater cables that are suspended over this reef. Plenty of smallcreatures can be found, making a good location for photography.

37 - BLACK JACK SHALLOWS

This inner reef is known for seeing lots ofblack jacks, horseye jacks, snappers andlots of small marine creatures.

38 - MOUNT CHARITY

A deep reef dive and outer barrier reef, with lots of marine life,turtles, snapper, horseye, and barracuda populate this reef. MountCharity is an excellent site for photography.
