The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the position of Public Health Nurse Intern, Public Health Nurse I/II in the Health and Human Services Department. There are currently full-me, part-me and extra-help opportunies available. This posion provides the full range of public health nursing services in homes, clinics, schools and community centers that include: educaon, assessments, clinical services and com- municable disease control and prevenon. Public Health Nurs- es are assigned to specific programs such as; Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health, California Childrens Services, Child Health and Disability Prevenon, Foster Care and communica- ble disease control. Performs related work as assigned. Public Health Intern is a recruiting and training level class established to qualify candidates for duties as a PHN I/II in Yu- ba County Health & Human Services Department. Under close supervision, incumbents learn and perform a variety of public health nursing duties in assigned program areas while pursu- ing a Public Health Nurse Certification. Public Health Nurse I is the entry level in this class series. Ini- tially under close supervision, incumbents learn and perform a variety of public health nursing duties in assigned program areas. As experience is gained, assignments become more complex and are performed under more general supervision. This class is flexibly staffed with the PHN II and incumbents may advance to the higher level after gaining experience, qual- ifications and demonstrating proficiency which meet the re- quirements for the higher level class. Public Health Nurse II is the journey level in this class series, fully qualified to provide public health nursing services for complex cases and to review the work of para-professional or support staff assigned to a nursing team. Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate has the ability to assess and priorize mulple tasks, projects and demands; combine pieces of informaon to form general rules or conclusions, be self-movated, skilled communicator, organized, advanced computer skills as well as skill in providing excellent nursing services in a variety of sengs. Addionally, assesses paent status and needs and takes appropriate acon to provide for the modificaon of treatment plans to maximize care effec- veness. Required Qualificaons: Public Health Nurse Intern Minimum: Graduaon from a four year college or university with major coursework in nursing and possession of a license as a Registered Nurse. The ability to obtain a valid cerficaon as a Public Health Nurse within 12 months of employment with proof of applicaon within 3 months of date of hire. Public Health Nurse Level I Minimum: Graduaon from a four year college or university with major coursework in nursing, possession of a license as a Registered Nurse and a Public Health Nurse Cerficate. Public Health Nurse Level II Minimum: Graduaon from a four year college or university with major coursework in nurs- ing, possession of a license as a Registered Nurse, a Public Health Nurse Cerficate, and one year of experience equiva- lent to the Countys class of Public Health Nurse I. Licenses and Cerficaons: Possession of or the ability to ob- tain a valid California Class C drivers license within ten (10) days of employment. Possess a valid license as a Registered Nurse in the State of California. Working Condions: Work in a standard office or clinic seng. Work may require exposure to sources of potenally contagious pathogens in the course of field dues, while wear- ing personal protecve equipment.
