Chairman Bronson Pate Welcomes You!It is with great humility and respect I have graciously accepted the honor of Chairman for the Fugitive Emissions Sum- mit Americas 2020, organized by KCI World and Messe Düsseldorf North America. I am extremely excited to see the wealth of industry knowledge that will be brought together under one roof in Houston. Many say I grew up in the refi ning industry. Starting my career in the environmental sector, I discovered very quickly building relationships in this industry was crucial and very benefi cial to my advancement. One of the main ways you can create a solid network is by branching into new areas where you could use a better under-standing. Summits, conferenc- es and conventions are the best and fastest way to accomplish this. One thing I have noticed in my career is that there is a giant age gap in the industry. With many Subject Matter Ex-perts (SMEs) on their way to retirement, younger generations are expected to take over with only a few months

or years under their belts. A lack of universal knowledge will move the industry in a backward direction, unless we as SMEs start to share our experiences more broadly. Therefore, it is my hope as Chairman to help bridge this knowledge gap. Please submit your abstracts to our steering committee, so they can have a great pool for topic selection. If you need any advice on an idea or how best to put together an abstract, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at any time. I hope everyone will take away something from the conference to help the next generation grow, as our mentors did for us.I hope to meet each & every one of you in June 2020! Sincerely,

HELPFUL PRESENTATION HINTSMinimize the Number of SlidesMinimal slides present a clear message and keeps the audience attentive and interested. Remember to choose an appropriate font size and style that will be easy to read, such as Arial or Calibri.

Keep Text SimpleUse bullet points of short sentence when possible. The audience will listen to your presentation, rather than read a text-heavy slide. Powerpoint slides should reinforce what is being said.

Have a HookThe best presentations capture the audiences’ attention early and keeps them engaged. Start the presentation with something intriguing, unique or inspiring to draw in the audience and make them take notice.

Write a ScriptThe purpose of slides is to further illustrate and expand on what is being discussed. It is a good idea to prepare an outline of the presentation prior to preparing your slides so it follows a logical and progressive order.

Ask QuestionsQuestions are a great way to arouse interest and pique the curiosity of the audience. Build tension by posing a question and offering a minute for listeners to consider and respond. A short Q&A after each presentation will be hosted, as interaction is key to any good presentation.

& Always remember to face your audience!* Upon abstract acceptance, a powerpoint presentation slide template will be provided.
