MODEL / SYSTEM AFFECTED: Any models of Motorola Solutions Public Safety Microphone (PSM) SYMPTOM: When using a PSM, the user may experience performance reduction of the radio and the radio’s ability to communicate with others. CAUSE: If the PSM cable is coiled, wrapped or extremely bent it may damage the coax wire inside the cable. RESOLUTION: For the best performance of your radio and public safety microphone (PSM), position the cable of the PSM across the body using a gradual, 90 degree angle; See Appendix A, Figure 1. Do not coil, wrap or cause the PSM cable to be extremely bent; See Appendix A, Figures 2 – 5. SEVERITY RECOMMENDATION: High - Perform Immediately PARTS REQUIRED (HARDWARE/SOFTWARE): NONE LABOR ALLOWANCE This is an informational bulletin. No labor warranty is implied, intended or authorized. Appendix A Caution: For the best performance of your radio and public safety mic (PSM), position the cable of the PSM across the body using a gradual, 90 degree angle. See Figure 1. Do not coil, wrap or cause the PSM cable to be extremely bent. See Figures 2 -5. If you coil, wrap or bend the cable, this may damage the coax wire inside the cable. If the coax wire inside the cable is damaged, this may significantly reduce both the performance of the radio and the radio's ability to communicate with others.
