FS24 Firestop Collars Installation Instructions FS24 Firestop Collars will provide up to 4 hours fire protection in floors and walls when sealing plastic pipe work. Suitable for sealing PVC, UPVC, CPVC, Polypropylene, HDPE, MDPE, PE and ABS pipe work in masonry, dry wall and concrete floors. ABS pipes up to 55mm OD. Not suitable for ventilated pipe applications. Installation in Masonry Walls

1) Make good the wall around plastic pipe with either FS23 Intumescent Sealant (gaps up to 12.5mm wide - 15mm depth) or FS20 Firestop Compound (gaps larger than 12.5mm wide - minimum 75mm thick).

2) Undo the toggle clip and open the FS24 Firestop Collars out.

3) Slide the Firestop Collar with the fixing tabs pointing towards the face of the wall, around the plastic pipe.

4) Lock the Firestop Collar around the pipe closing the toggle clip. Push the Firestop Collar back on to the wall.

5) Fix the Firestop Collar to the wall by means of 32mm long steel self-tapping screws, through the fixing tabs.

6) Repeat for the other side of the wall.

Installation in Dry Walls

1) Make good the wall around plastic pipe with either FS23 Intumescent Sealant (gaps up to 12.5mm wide) to the full depth of the boards or by forming a plasterboard Patrice (to be advised by Gypsum wall manufacturer).

2) Undo the toggle clip and open the Firestop Collar out.

3) Slide the Firestop Collar with the fixing tabs pointing towards the face of the wall, around the plastic pipe.

4) Lock the Firestop Collar around the pipe closing the toggle clip. Push the Firestop Collar back on to the wall.

5) Fix the Firestop Collar to the wall by means of 42mm dry wall screws and steel penny washers, through the fixing

tabs.

6) Repeat on the other side of the wall.

Installation in Concrete Floors (Soffit Mounted)

1) Make good the floor around plastic pipe with either FS23 Intumescent Sealant (annular gaps of up to 12.5mm wide) or FS20 Firestop Compound (annular gaps larger than 12.5mm wide – install at minimum 75mm thick).

2) Undo the toggle clip and open the Firestop Collar out.

3) Slide the Firestop Collar, with the fixing tabs pointing up towards the face of the soffit, around the plastic pipe.

4) Lock the Firestop Collar around the pipe closing the toggle clip. Push the Firestop Collar back on to the soffit.

5) Fix the Firestop Collar to the soffit by means of 32mm long steel self-tapping screws, through the fixing tabs.

Installation in Concrete Floors (Cast-in)

1) Undo the toggle clip and open the Firestop Collar out.

2) Slide the Firestop Collar, with the fixing tabs pointing up towards the top of the floor slab, around the plastic pipe.

3) Lock the Firestop Collar around the pipe closing the toggle clip. 4) To make good, push the Firestop Collar back on top of the shuttering.

5) Very Important: If using mineral wool permanent shuttering for FS20 Firestop Compound, cut back the mineral

wool to expose the red teeth from the soffit below. This prevents insulating the intumescent material which can lead to a product malfunction.

6) Make good hole with concrete or FS20 Firestop Compound to the required minimum thickness.

Installation in Timber Floors (Surface Mounted)

1) Box out the plastic pipe fixing timber noggins between the joists

2) Make good the plasterboard around plastic pipe, leaving a 10mm wide annular gap between the board and the pipe (to be advised by Gypsum board manufacturer).

3) Make good the annular gap between the plastic pipe and plasterboard with either FS23 Intumescent Sealant (gaps up to 10mmm wide) to the full depth of the boards.

4) Undo the toggle clip and open the Firestop Collar out.

5) Slide the Firestop Collar with the fixing tabs pointing towards the face of the ceiling, around the plastic pipe.

6) Lock the Firestop Collar around the pipe closing the toggle clip. Push the Firestop Collar back on to the ceiling.

7) Fix the Firestop Collar to the ceiling, by means of 42mm dry wall screws and steel penny washers, through the

fixing tabs into the timber framing Health & Instructions General: FS24 Firestop Collars are manufactured from layers of intumescent polymer fixed inside of the steel collar
