Getting into FrontPage

1. Open FrontPage (Part of MS Office)

2. Under File/Open Web

3. Under FolderName http://socrates.barry.edu/mcs-cmarinas or if listed, just double click on the name

4. Enter Name and Password

5. (from home enter facstaff\cmarinas)

The filenames are on the left side

The file that is open is on the right side

To Edit an Existing File Click on the filename and it will

open in the right window. You can make changes in

NORMAL or HTML mode. You can view it in PREVIEW mode.

SAVE changes when done.

Copying Templates The easiest way to make changes is to

edit an already existing file. First copy (EDIT/COPY) the template file. Rename the file (Highlight and Right

Click). Open the renamed file and then make

your changes. When done you can click on the SAVE

button.

Cutting & Pasting from Word

Open your document in WORD. Then Edit/Select All (this will highlight your

entire Word document) Then Edit/Copy Minimize the Word Program Then go to your web page that you wish to

insert this text. Position your cursor in that region.

Then Edit/Paste. Edit to make it look better if necessary. Then SAVE button.

Making Folders in FrontPage

In the Folder List column, highlight the folder that you want to nest another folder inside.

Then File/New/Folder Then rename that folder. For example,

I would have one called ppt for all my PowerPoint presentations.

Open Windows Explorer and locate your file.

Highlight the file and then Edit/Copy. Minimize Windows Explorer.

Transfer files into FrontPage

Open FrontPage and in the Folder List column, highlight the folder that you wish to include this file.

Then Edit/Paste. You will see your file begin transferred.

Adding a hyperlink Open the page in FrontPage Type the word(s) that you want to

be highlighted for your link. Highlight those words. Then Insert/Hyperlink This will open another dialog box

Hyperlinks (Continued)

1. To enter an EXTERNAL link, at the URL prompt type the entire Web Site Address.

2. To link this to another page of your web site, locate and highlight it. It will automatically put it in the URL Box.

3. Then OK button.
