EXELAND ASSOCIATION NEWS The Exeland Area Association held their annual Chili Cook- off on Saturday, March 15th. Winners of the cook-off were: 1st Place– Doris / Buckhorn Bar; 2nd Place– Steve Ross; 3rd Place– Sue Kopras; 4th Place– Melissa Bartlett. Congratulations to Doris on being crowned the new chili champ of Exeland and for beating some stiff competition! But as good as the chili was it was the mystery ham-salad sandwiches that eventually stole the show. Food expert, John Deach commented, “The ham salad sandwiches were unbelievable. Obviously, the humble person who made these sandwiches and created the recipe must be a genius.” Nearly 50 people attended the Exeland Area Association “Appreciation Night” held at the Frontier Bar on Saturday night, March 15th where a meal was served and many door prizes were given away. Association President Jim Gerber said, “It is our way of thanking the members of our organization and all of the businesses who have advertised in our newsletter over the past years.” The Association also held their quarterly business meeting on the same night. Discussed are plans to build a new picnic shelter at Swan Creek Park this spring. Also, the annual Community Picnic will be held on Sunday, July 3rd and will feature baseball games, picnic, fireworks and more. Join us on Facebook. At the time the news for thispublication was being reported nobody

in the area had reported seeing aRobin. Initial rumors are that they’reextinct.
