Greetings! May this message find you doing exceptionally well and in good spirits. We look back on a challenging 2020 year and still have hope for continued grace for times to come.

We are proud to announce that we will be hosting the 46th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Breakfast on January 18, 2021. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, our event will be virtual this year.

While the in-person camaraderie, food and fellowship of our premier event will be greatly missed, we are hard at work to produce a virtual event worthy of your support. In fact, we believe this format allows for some exciting program innovations under the able video production of the City of Springfield’s Audio-Visual Department.

This year’s speaker is Rev. Dr. Melvin Charles Smith, Senior Pastor at Mt. Moriah East Baptist Church where he has led the congregation since 1967. He is a graduate of Leadership Memphis, is on the Board of Trustees for the Memphis Theological Seminary, and founded the Mt. Moriah-East Development Corporation.

We anticipate even broader participation beyond our regular 700+ active participants to new viewers utilizing channel 4 and 18, YouTube and other social media platforms. Plus, we are still printing a Commemorative Booklet which will list all VIP Sponsors and be delivered to all 2021 donors including VIP Sponsors, Ad Sponsors Virtual Table Supporters and general viewer contributors.

Programming for our youth has continued on a regular schedule in 2020. Fortunately, our donated meeting sites have large, open spaces that allow for proper social distancing. Your continued support allows us to continue our recognized mentoring efforts and to award youth scholarships. Please consider becoming a Virtual Table Supporter or Ad Sponsor this year for our fundraising event. We hope we can count on you again to help make this year’s MLK Memorial Breakfast an outstanding event.
