THE NIAGARA FRONTIER RADIO READING SERVICE

Giving the Blind a Chance to ReadThe Niagara Frontier Radio Reading Service (NFRRS) gives daily access of printer matter to thousands of blind and print-handicapped persons throughout Western New York and Southern Ontario’s Niagara Peninsula. Volunteers broadcast daily readings of newspapers, magazines, books and vital information to listeners, who are all provided “reading radios”. NFRRS has become a trusted friend to those who face each day without sight, helping them become active members of society, and improving their quality of life. All listeners are provided a special receiver, which looks like a table-model radio. The “receivers” are tuned only to the NFRRS broadcast signal and provide instant, 24/7 access to a wide variety of printed matter. If you, or someone you know, would benefit from our service, please call (716) 821-5555.

Our mental state has a direct connection to our emotional state of being. If our minds are fearful, confused or worried, our emotional state suffers accordingly. In this class, we will examine not only how this happens, but look closely on how our emotional state not only affects our lives, but our future as well! In addition, we will conduct exercises in experiencing our own energy field, learning to transmit our energy measuring it, and even seeing it with our own eyes! INTRODUCTION TO MEDITATION

We all want to be happy and lead fulfilled lives. But too often we depend upon our minds to find this happiness and too often we are disappointed. The reason is that we are using the wrong tool for the job. To find true happiness, we need to look within, for our hearts hold the answers to finding true joy and contentment, not our minds. This is where meditation comes in. By learning how to quiet the mind, we can remove ourselves from the fear the mind creates and open us up to a whole new world of self-discovery and purpose. In this class, we will learn the true benefits of the meditative experience as well as experience meditation itself. If you feel frustrated and discouraged in life, this is the class you have been waiting for! Mr. D’Angelo has been teaching meditation for over 25 years and has helped hundreds of people find peace of mind and a loving purpose to their lives. Please come to this introduction and join us.MONDAY Mr. D’Angelo Date: 5/9 Session: 1 7:00-9:30 Fee: $30* Middle School NR: $35Rm. 109*No Golden Pass discount given for this class.

SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT CIRCLELooking for greater spiritual connection, healing and inspiration in your life? Then this course is for you! A development circle is a gathering for spiritual growth where we meditate together, give and receive healing energy and exchange inspired messages from spirit. During the weekly guided meditations, the increased group energy will help you to center and reconnect to the source of healing, peace and wisdom that lies within you. We will then send this energy out to people, places and situations in our lives and world that need healing. You will also receive instruction in how to open to your inner guidance so that you can begin to trust and share the intuitive insights that come. You will be encouraged by the messages shared by your classmates and amazed at the helpfulness of the inspirations received. Whether you’re a beginner with little to no experience or a practiced energy worker, this course will help you to further open to and develop your spiritual gifts. All are welcome! UNITY THROUGH RHYTHMHave you ever heard the phrase, or maybe even yourself expressed the phrase: I don’t have any rhythm? This six-week program will emphatically debunk that completely false notion. Enrollees will be involved in a fully participatory, hands-on activity of hand drumming resulting in us coming together as a rhythm community. Included will be a brief overview of rhythm, and the different types of drums used in the increasingly popular activity of drum circles. Producing effective tones from the drum will be explored and then applied to learning various African/Caribbean rhythms as well as improve drumming. The different uses of drumming will be addressed including meditational/relaxation drumming. All drums and hand-held instruments will be provided. Musical experience is OK, but absolutely not required. The overriding goal of any drum circle offered by this presenter - and hence for this class - is that participants will leave feeling better than upon arriving. This program will include a review of material covered during Fall 2015 as well as present new rhythms and concepts and is limited to 25 students.

The instructor, Steve Bell, is a retired educator who, throughout his life, has been involved in varying genres of percussion from drum and bugle corps to community symphony orchestra and concert bands. He has undertaken considerable training in drum circle facilitation and sound empowerment and receives much gratification from sharing drumming and rhythm with others. KUNG FU KARATEAges 7 - 12

This course will serve as a comprehensive introduction and basic study of Hung Gar Kung Fu Karate, an ancient traditional method that derives its theory from the five major animals of Chinese martial arts i.e., the dragon, snake, leopard, crane and tiger. Kung Fu Karate is considered a path of self-discovery in which the student will find, hopefully, a rich philosophical understanding as well as a way to improve one’s health and self image through discipline and practice. The students will be introduced to the “drills”, which not only develops strength but imparts the theory that makes the system work. Through diligent practice and reflection the student will discover a sense of balance and harmony while developing a healthy mind, body and spirit. This course will be an interactive hands-on experience including physical and mental conditioning as well as philosophy, attitude and character development. Carefully managed physical contact is a necessary component of training a martial art. Successful completion of the course will result in a solid basis of understanding of what it is like to practice Kung Fu Karate with the ability to carry this experience into an active Kung Fu Karate school. Please wear loose comfortable clothing to class. The instructor, Sifu Robert Gott, is the owner of the Red Dragon School of Martial Arts located at the McKinley Mall.
