    was under demolition thisweek. Clint Moat andSons were awarded the job

    by own Council at a pricetag o $37,500 plus GS.Work began last Friday

    by removing earth that wascovering the south reser-

    voir. T e old treatment

    plant had two reservoirs one on the north and oneon the south sides o the

    main building. Monday,demolition o the southreservoir began using a

    large jack hammer on atrack-hoe to break-up thethick concrete roo and

    walls o the reservoirs. Tislet a tangled mess o rebarand concrete to be cleaned

    up and hauled osite.T e water treatment

    Winnipeg during 1952-53. Te installation o the

    communitys waterworksand sewage project wascompleted or $385,000,

    a small cry rom what asimilar project would costtoday. In the October 15,

    1953 edition oTe Tribuneit is reported that Quinnhad 18 men working on the

    water and sewer installa-tion project with two back-hoes, one dragline and two

    bulldozers.T e old treatment

    project. T is event tookplace on December 10th,

    1953 at 3 p.m. when thenManitoba Premier Doug-las L. Campbell opened

    the valve at the plant toturn on the water to supply

    the community. About 175people were reported in

    attendance at the openingceremony which was ol-

    lowed by a banquet at theLegion Hall in which some250 residents attended.

    ing there in 1959.Te plant served the

    community or only tenyears and was closed in1963 when the wells north

    o the gol course were dugand the water treatment

    plant just south o todaysHusky plant was commis-

    sioned. Tis plant under-went a major upgrade and

    expansion a ew years backand continues to serve thecommunity, along with a

    second water treatmentplant located east o the

    gol course which was builtin the mid-1990s.
