Brethren:
This year is nearly halfway gone and there
is still much work to be done. Our first fund-
raiser will soon be here. Please note that the
date has changed to June 8th and 9th. We
hope this two day event will prove to be a
success and I believe it will be. Contact
Brother Al Bradshaw to make donations
and /or for information on how you can help
him with this fund raiser for the Oxford
Home for Children.
Thanks to all the officers and brethren for
their excellent work in raising Brother
Farmer to the sublime degree of Master
Mason. The degree was conferred entirely of
King Solomon Lodge members. A special
thanks to Stephen Jones for his work in the
meal preparation. The cold cuts and pick
ups were great. Also thanks to Bob Erwin for
the delicious banana pudding.
Thanks to those who helped with the
adopt a highway clean up. It is amazing
what is scattered along the roadway.
Thanks to Dr. Ann Tippitt who spoke at
our stated on the Schiele Museum. The
following weekend several brethren met for
breakfast before visiting the museum. The
visit was educational and made for a fun day.
Finally brethren, remember to do your
best in supporting out charities, remember to
visit the sick brethren and contribute to the
needed causes and support your lodge.

Special Presentation by
Worshipful Brother James
Howell
There will be two
videos shown, the first
being on the York Rite
and the second entitled
“Tribute to The Flag”.
The video on the York
Rite will explain the
structure of the York Rite and how it con-
tributes to the explanation of many of the
legends and lessons taught in the Blue
Lodge degrees. Each Body of the York Rite,
the Chapter, Council and Commandery will
be introduced and a summary of the
degrees and orders are given. The York Rite
has been in Gastonia since 1908 and
continues to be a part of the masonic
experience for brethren in and around
Gastonia. The York Rite has approximately
143 members in Gastonia and 3500
across the state of NC.
The video “Tribute to the Flag” is spon-
sored by Scottish Rite Masons and
addresses topics such as waving, guarding,
photographing, designing, painting and
claiming the flag. The video finishes with a
presentation titled “I Love Liberty”
featuring Robin Williams. Since Flag Day is
June 14th, this video is very appropriate to
focus our members on the story of this
symbol of freedom and our country.
