From the School Leaders
End of Term 2 As the term comes to an end it is time to reflect on our achievements and prepare for Term 3. In doing so we acknowledge two of our staff members who will be taking leave from Wembley to pursue different roles. Con-gratulations and best wishes are extended to Gael Howard (Year 2) as she prepares for the birth of her first child and to Bree Parmansche (Year 4) who will be taking leave. We thank both Gael and Bree for their contribution to Wembley Primary School dur-ing their time here and look forward to hear-ing about their respective adventures. The term has been a busy and productive one with our Years 3 & 5 students completing NAPLAN testing, a successful Athletics Carni-val for the students in Years 2 to 6, Semester reports for all students and Parent/Teacher Interviews, being held this week. Over the past two weeks all teaching teams have been involved in planning for the coming term. Parents are reminded that the term ends on Friday 28 June with an assembly on the bas-ketball court at 1.15pm, followed by dis-missal for the holidays at 1.30pm. The last day for the school canteen will be Thursday this week.
Casual Clothes Day This will be held on Thursday and students are asked to bring a gold coin to donate to the Very Special Kids organisation. This or-ganisation supports families of children with life threatening illness by providing respite and counselling for siblings and parents at a very difficult time. Thank you to the Junior School Council for organising this activity and to Angela Crossman (Eliya, Year 4 and Seth, Year 5) who collected the VSK collection tins, posters, balloons and promotional mate-rial for the event.
Parent-Teacher Interviews These will be held this afternoon for students in Years 3-6 between 1pm and 7.30pm and on Thursday afternoon for Prep-Year 2 parents. Semester 1 Student Reports were sent home on Monday and parents will receive their child's Portfolio at the Parent-Teacher Inter-view this week. Parents are asked to have a look through the portfolio, which contains samples of your child's work from throughout

the term. There is an opportunity for parents to make a comment about their child's work before it is returned to school.
Interviews On Line Booking System Positive feedback has been received from many parents regarding the ease of booking appointments for interviews as we moved to an on line system this year. If you have any comments regarding the on line booking sys-tem please email school or telephone to give your feedback, which is always welcomed.
Craig Turner Assembly Wembley assembled last Friday afternoon to pay tribute to the contribution of Craig Turner who recently took a promotion to As-sistant Principal at North Melbourne Primary School after teaching at Wembley for over twenty years. Students made presentations to Craig and memories of happy times were shared. Scott Walker, School Council Presi-dent made a presentation to Craig on behalf of the whole school community to conclude the assembly.
Chicken Pox For your information there has been a re-ported case of Chicken Pox in Year 1 so if your child develops symptoms of fever, rash or spots during the holiday break you are ad-vised to seek medical advice.
Parking around the School The parking issues, in all streets surrounding the school are a constant problem. Fre-quently we receive complaints from parents and neighbours of the school concerning un-safe practice of parents in dropping their children off and letting them run across the road. This is extremely dangerous and could result in an unnecessary accident occurring. In consideration of our neighbours parents are asked not to park across driveways as this hinders access to residents and is illegal.
Start of Term 3 Term 3 commences on Monday 15 July with our assembly at 9am. The staff wishes all of our families a safe, relaxing and enjoyable holiday.

Seddon Auskick Just a quick couple of notes and dates for the dairy. Firstly, there will be Auskick this Saturday so if your in town, we will be be holding a clinic this week. The Cof-fee man won't be available this weekend but the BBQ will go ahead as usual. I haven't got anyone to cook the BBQ as yet so if anyone would like to give me a hand just come on over on Saturday, I'll be there. Second date to keep in mind is the fund raising BBQ at Bunnings on the 22 June. I'll be seeking volunteers soon so if you can help, please keep the date free and I'll send around a schedule in the next week or so. If anyone has fully paid up and still needs a back pack please let me know so I can get a few more. A few weeks back a few of you did the level zero train-ing, if you could please email me your names please i can get your level zero qualification recognised that would be great. Finally, we had five people complete the level one coaching course so a big thanks to those who gave up their time to do this for all our children. If I could please get you all to send me through your confirmations that you would have received by e-mail upon registering as I need to pay the bill. I know some of you have already done this but if you can send it through again that would be great. see you all Saturday Regards Rob Seddon Auskick 0418 513 369 [email protected]
