Reporting to ParentsReporting to ParentsYour child’s Semester 1 report will be sent home on Friday 5 July 2019. Reports help parents and carers

understand how their child is progressing and how we as teachers can support your child’s future

learning in their academic and social development. The end of semester written reports are just one

way in which our school communicates with parents and carers about how their child is going at school.

At any time throughout the year, our teachers are available for parent-teacher appointments. These can

be by face to face meeting or by telephone appointment if required. Parents and carers wishing to

discuss any aspect of their child’s learning and wellbeing development can make parent-teacher

appointment via our school oce.

Mobile Phones and Other Portable Communication Devices atMobile Phones and Other Portable Communication Devices atSchoolSchoolOur school recognises that some students may need to be in possession of a mobile telephone or other

portable communication device at school for a variety of reasons, including enhancing safety in

travelling to and from school. The non-educational use of mobile devices in our school is managed in

accordance with our Mobile Phones and Other Portable Communication Devices Policy. The policy and

parent consent form is available for download from our school website.

GRIP Student Leadership ConferenceGRIP Student Leadership ConferenceLast Monday, our Student Leadership Team and House Captains attended the GRIP Student Leadership

Conference in Gosford. It was a great opportunity for our enthusiastic student leaders to participate in

interactive workshops with students from local schools, to further develop their personal and team

leadership skills and to generate ideas for ways in which students can contribute positively to our

school community. We look forward to our students’ further developments and achievements in this

area. A huge thank you goes to the many parents who assisted in transporting the children to and from

the event and to Mr Foyel for his support of the students on the day.

Have a wonderful week everyone.

Girls PSSA SoccerGirls PSSA SoccerWhat an awesome day we had for the girls soccer team. On Thursday the 30th May, the girls soccer team

participated in the NSW PSSA Knockout Competition at Killarney Vale Oval. We unfortunately lost the

rst game 2 nil against Brooke Avenue Public School. However, we played really well. Then we got to

play a friendly game against Killarney Vale Public School. It was a fun game and we won 3-1. It was a

brilliant day and we couldn’t have done it without all the parents that transported us to and from the

game.

A special thanks to Mr Foyel who coached us at the game and spent his recess time getting us ready for

the game.

Lions “Recycle for Sight” Program and Wamberal Public SchoolLions “Recycle for Sight” Program and Wamberal Public SchoolOur Student Representative Council is committed to the “Lions Recycle for Sight” program. The aim of

the program is improving vision/sight for communities in developing countries. The Lions “Recycle for

Sight Australia” is part of the Lions Club International Worldwide Eyeglass Recycling Program,

headquartered in Queensland and operating throughout Australia and overseas.

So far, Recycle for Sight Australia has collected thousands of pairs of used glasses, sunglasses, new

frames and other equipment. The program distributes regraded glasses to many parts of the world

through Lions Clubs, Rotary Clubs and other humanitarian organisations for distribution to people in

need at no expense or obligation on the recipient.

At Wamberal Public School we think we can help too!

How can you help out?

- Locate any old/used/discarded eyeglasses, sunglasses and reading glasses.

- Drop these unwanted spectacles into the oce.

We will then arrange, with the support of the Terrigal Wamberal Lions Club, to have the glasses sent to

the Lions recycling centre in Queensland where the glasses are tested and graded according to the

lenses.

This is a very easy way, as a school community, that we can help out other people less fortunate around

the world. We hope you can get behind this very worthy cause.
