Bingo night! Last Friday evening saw some of our families come together for a fabulous night of Bingo, and a BBQ. The P & C, supported by the incredible talents of Kristy Glyde, put this together and what a great evening it was.

On Thursday of last week approx. 30 of students went to Macksville pool together with Roz Everson and Craig Ellem, to compete in the PSSA district swimming carnival. Our school excelled, with many students exceeding expectations. We look forward to the zone carnival now, in Coffs in a week or two.

Class visits I was privileged to sit in on Kinder Aqua with Belinda Mellalieu, on Friday. There was some great learning happening here, and it was a pleasure to be part of it.

I also visited our 3-6 Emerald class, taught by Richard Frade, and supported by Marie Mellon. Here, Hal, couldn’t wait to show me his 2 sentences he had written and he then proudly read them to me. Outstanding!

I bid farewell Friday will be my last day here at Bellingen PS. I have been asked to take on a Principal School Leadership role again, supporting and working with principals across various schools.

To this end I am in discussion with my Director, Educational Leadership – Sue Brown, about filling the principal position here at Bellingen PS permanently with a new principal. I have loved this school, and everything about it. Our students, staff and community are wonderful. I leave with very mixed feelings. Thank you to everyone for your support of our school, and me, as principal. Until a new appointment is made Dylan Harry will be the rel. Principal. Yours in partnership Graeme Ross, Principal Jack Apanui, Cricket Success

On Tuesday 12th February Jack Apanui represented Bellingen Public School and tried out, along with 55 other boys in the MNC Zone, for PSSA Cricket. Jack was lucky enough to be selected in the squad to play in the North Coast trials in April, if successful Jack will play in the State final in Wollongong. Jack was in the Coffs Harbour Zone U12 team that won the North Coast Championship, defeating Lower Clarence before Christmas. On weekends he plays for Coffs Colts U14 team on Saturdays and the U16 team

T20 on Friday nights. He looks forward to representing Bellingen Public School in the upcoming games. Paul Warman, Proud Grandparent Whole School Assembly Students of the Month Congratulations to the students who were recipients of the Student of the Month award at last week’s Whole School Assembly. Canteen News To cater for the students and other members of our school community, providing the healthiest and most nutritious food in a responsive, courteous and impartial manner. It was great to see our big buddies bringing their little buddies to the canteen last week. They indulged in our fantastic heathy treats and whilst speaking of new arrivals, our milkshake machine has arrived. A shout out to all our families to help us to cut down on disposable packaging. If anyone has large plastic tumblers that we can serve our milkshakes in we would appreciate any donations as we’d rather wash and re-use, than dispose of into landfill. Chocolate, strawberry or caramel flavoured milkshakes are available for $1.50. This week’s winners of our biggest and smallest apple competition are Soloman Tree in 3/4A who had the biggest apple at an impressive 236 grams. Our smallest apple was bought in by JoeJo Tobey in 4/5J weighing 52 grams. Your $2 prize can be collected from the canteen. Watch this space for our weekly winners and keep those apples coming. Our 2 weekly specials this week are: two chicken satay skewers served with rice, supplied by Valley Quality Meats; or two vegetable samosas with minted yoghurt reminiscent of our school fete, $4.50 each. You can meal deal the whole lot for $5.00 and include a frozen juice popper; just the thing for a hot February day. If you would like to join us on our exciting journey of enhancing the health and wellbeing of our school community, simply fill in a form, obtainable from the canteen and hand it in back to us or into the front office and we can get you onboard our amazing team. Thank you everyone for being a part of and making our school community so awesome. Matt Knight, Canteen Supervisor

Please complete the mandatory fields only. I encourage all parents and carers to use this facility as it is far more secure and easier for all concerned, including our students, teaching and office staff.

Head Lice Head Lice have been detected in a number of classes. Would you please check your child’s hair and treat with the appropriate treatment if you detect lice or eggs. Students should not return to school unless this treatment has been administered. We recommend that students with long hair keep it tied back.
