Stewardship becomes a major emphasis in many congrega-tions during the month of October. Part of that emphasis is on fi-nancial giving as we head into 4th quarter of our 2014 budget and as we begin to discern our ministry plans for 2015. However, steward-ship has a much broader scope than just financial. As stewards of God’s resources in this world, our stewardship includes our choices concerning what God puts in our control - our skills, our abilities, our time, our jobs, finances, families, relationships, and our care for the earth, animals, atmosphere, etc.
As I pastor, I am supposed to lead the congregation into good stewardship. But, to be honest with you, other than setting an ex-ample by tithing (the biblical model of giving 10% of my income) and using my time and talents to the best of my ability, I don’t know how to do that. I can highlight the grace of God that showers bless-ings on us. I can articulate vision for a better world. I can call us to responsible choosing. But it seems to me that each person answers not to me for their choices, but rather to the giver of the gifts - to God.
So, as we focus on stewardship - and as we are invited to pon-der and make choices about the use of our time, talents, and re-sources, let me share 10 things that were taught to me as I grew up that influence my stewardship decisions:
1. All we have - time, health, family, job, money, skills, etc. - are undeserved gifts from God, and we should show thanks to the giver.
2. What is given is not just for us. It is to equip/empower us to live in a way that makes the world a better place.

From the Pastor...
3. If I wouldn’t give my children or my friend only the left-overs, then don’t do that to God. Make sharing God a priority of love.
4. Strive to use a percentage of financial resources for Christian ministry as a way of consist-ently saying thank you to Christ for giving all of His life and resources for me.
5. Time is a valuable resource. Set aside time as a gift to God - to meet regularly in worship, for personal conversation with God, for study, for service.
6. If we want to be excited and positive about life, then hang out with people who are mak-ing things happen.
7. People who help others and work toward visions beyond themselves become so involved in making life happen for others that their own problems become smaller.
8. Always support (in finances, prayer, or other efforts) something beyond ourselves and our needs. It’s part of belonging to humankind and a larger vision.
9. Never underestimate the importance of any gift or act of kindness, no matter how small.
10. No one can change the world alone, but working together, the possibilities are limitless.
If you were to make a list of things that guide your stewardship - that you try to live by - what would you list? Write them out. Then pray that you will live by them in Christ’s name and for His honor. Also, if your brave enough, share them with me…I’d love to be in pray with you for them.
God Bless,
Pastor Andy

I so look forward to seeing you there.
Ginger Huddleston, President

Outreach Commission The Outreach Commission Charter is to share and grow the Love that is Christ Jesus with people in our
neighborhood and community, by serving those less fortunate than ourselves.
WOW – I can’t believe it’s October already! Time sure does just fly right by. Well, since it is October, we are starting to gear up for all our holiday ministry efforts that are surely right around the corner… First up:
Samaritans Purse - Operation Christmas Child Our annual collection for this ministry is going to start full swing in October, with complet-ed boxes due in early November. It’s never too early to start collecting items to fill a shoe box for a child – to show them the love of God. – Look for all the supplies soon, very soon….. A small shoebox can teach a child about the love of God, lead him or her to faith in Christ, inspire pastors, and plant new churches. What goes into the box is fun, but what comes out is eternal. Be a part of changing lives through the power of a simple gift. Can’t do a full box, but still want to donate? We are collecting: Small items to fill the boxes, OR donations to defray the shipping costs ($7.00 per box is the shipping cost, and we have 20 filled boxes already) Some things to remember as you are filling your boxes:
Please pray for the recipient of your box, that goes such a long way, and it is sure to fill that box with God’s love!
Please don’t over fill your box (Samaritans Purse will be adding some items, so please make sure it’s not “overstuffed”)
Please don’t secure with tape - use a rubber band If you wrap a box, please wrap the lid separate from the box so it can be opened
Thanks so much for all of your support with this ministry. Questions? – Please see Ann McDivitt; 678-960-4091
Family Promise – Oct 19 - 26 You may have seen the “small board” that has been in Fellowship Hall for a couple weeks: we were trying to get a jump start on our host/volunteer sign ups, and so far, so good. There are still a number of spots available, so please prayerfully consider volunteering to help us out. The families that are our guests LOVE to come to Christ Lutheran! This is all because of YOU – our volunteers!
Types of volunteer slots available:
OUR NEXT WEEK TO HOST IS DEC 21 - 28

If you have time during the week, there are also volunteer needs over at the day center – have a couple hours every Tuesday for example? – be their phone person for that slot.

The Next Stop annual dinner is Friday Oct 17 6:00PM At Suwanee Sports Academy. We need a group of 6-8 people for serving drinks and managing the condiment table and dessert table.
Anyone who volunteers does not have to pay the $10. We would need them from 6:00--8:30ish. We usu-ally have a lot of physical help cleaning up & breaking down the gym....so they wouldn't be expected to stay for that.
Anyone wanting to volunteer please send email to:
[email protected] or call 256 652 8264
Thank You , Eric
