From the Homeowners Association
Board of Directors
Fellow Neighbors,
First, I would like to thank Tony Smith and Curt Vondrasek fortheir leadership, dedication and service as our Treasurer andArchitectural Chair for the past two years. We will miss you both.
We held our Annual Meeting on Tuesday, March 24th and elected ournew Board of Directors: President- Kamala Martinez, Vice President -Tammara Williams, Treasurer - Jim Dorociak, Secretary - Gene Geekie, and Director - Dr. Rudy Paolucci. We still have 2 openings on the boardand would welcome any interested parties to please contact me.
2015/2016 BOARD MEETING CALENDARAll meetings are held at the River Run Clubhouse at 6:30 p.m.
April 20th • May 11th • September 14th • October 26thNovember 16th • December 14th • January 11th • February 15th
March 1st - Annual Meeting at 7:00 p.m.
In 2014, the board focused on implementing our new Bi-Laws and Rules& Regulations. With any change comes some reluctance and fear of theunknown. Please note the rules are not put in place to give the residentsheart palpitations, but to keep River Run a premiere community.
In 2015 the board will be focusing on all technology aspects such as, butnot limited to, our Website content and usage, electronic payments andelectronic communications. I know this is more change but, together wecan do this!
Lastly, the Landscaping Committee will be working hard to ensure theentrances and berms are ready for the spring season. I think that’s it fornow and GO BIG TEN Teams in the NCAA tournament. I love MarchMadness…
Regards, Kamala Martinez

Summer Camp
Do you think I'm named Dreamsicle only because
I'm orange? That's part of it, but the other reason is
that I literally could have frozen to death. Someone
put me in a box, sealed that box with tape, and put
me on a street corner in Chicago… oh, did I forget
to mention that is was -2 degrees outside? Then,
through a series of fortuitous events, I ended up at
NAHS. Believe me, I'm counting my blessings. I've
been through a lot, so I'm a little shy and nervous
around people I don't know; I just need to know
that I can trust you. After I do, I'll be your constant
companion. Playing with toys, watching the wildlife
from a safe spot inside, and lazy days basking in
sunshine are the things my dreams are made of. I
can live with other gentle cats, and maybe a dog
(but I've never met one, so I'm not sure). Wouldyou help make my dreams come true?

Do your kids Kik?By Julie Smith
Imagine a pedophile being in your house, even in yourchild’s bedroom - not physically, but via their computers orcell phones. Facebook and Twitter are old news and thesocial media application Kik is one of the fastest growing“apps” that kids are using to engage in privateconversations. This application has now become a sexualpredator’s highway. Here is what parents need to know.
Kik is a free texting application which now has over 200million users from around the world that enables users toconnect with strangers. Although rated for people age 17and older, tweens and teens are their main users. The sitehas no age verification and no parental controls. Users cansearch for other Kik users by age, sex, city, chat interestsand much more.
Kids are moving away from Facebook and Twitter becausethey know their parents are watching them. They havetheir parents as “friends” and let them follow their “tweets”but Kik is where they can go to for privacy.
Instead of using phone numbers or real names to contacteach other, each Kik member has a user name.Conversations and images can’t be viewed publicly, whichmakes it much harder for parents to monitor thanFacebook or Twitter.
The problem is that kids could be running into the virtualarms of an online predator. It’s a rising concern among
parents and law enforcement. Kik and the applicationInstagram are a dangerous combination for teenagers whopost pictures and invite viewers to “Kik me” privately tochat. Members can randomly chat with strangers and sendimages.
What can you do? I encourage every parent to beproactive when it comes to educating themselves aboutthe social media sites their children are using. They shouldhave a discussion with their children about technology andset boundaries.
Make it a priority to discuss appropriate online behaviorand the dangers of sexting.
Our children think they are safe when they are at home. However, if they have the Kik application, it is a falsesense of security. One of the biggest mistakes our PoliceInvestigators observe is when parents allow their childrento charge their devices in their rooms at night. Keep thatdevice on the kitchen counter during the night. In order tobe “Sex-torted” all you have to do is go on Kik, close thebedroom door, type and perform. Parents are usually thelast to know when a child is black mailed by a predator onKik.

Jeff Stainer is by far the best realtor I have evercome across. I read the other gushing reviews ofJeff here on Zillow, and my wife and I feel exactlythe same way. He knows the local market very welland I could not imagine a more responsive agent. He almost always answers calls, and in the veryrare instances when he can't, he returns the callwithin the hour. Sometimes, I wonder if the manever sleeps. He truly does work HARD to get yourhome sold at a good price. There were severaltimes when my wife and I wanted to reduce ourasking price, but amazingly, Jeff convinced us notto, forsaking an easier selling opportunity. He doeswhat is best for his clients, not himself. Believe it ornot, I've actually told him that he is working toohard for his clients. Along with being a great andvery professional real-estate agent, he is just a nicehuman being. He instantly becomes a part of thefamily. As happy as we are to have sold our home,we are going to miss working with Jeff. You willnot ever regret choosing Jeff to represent you.Bala and Alamu R., Naperville
I don't think I've met a person who has workedharder than Jeff did on helping us buying ourfamily home. We were referred to Jeff by a friendand after placing our first phone call to him, he wasover at our townhouse within 24 hours for ourinitial meeting. Jeff treated us like old friendsthough we had not met him and we knew rightaway we were in good hands. Jeff worked aroundthe clock for us and always responded to anyphone call, email or text we had within an hour. Most often he was reaching out to us first so wewere never behind in what was going on. Ourpurchase was not an easy one (issues not relating torealtor), but Jeff handled them with flying colors. He wouldn't take no for an answer if we cameacross a roadblock and did not give up until we gotwhat we wanted. There is no question in my mindthat we would not have gotten the house we did ifit were not for Jeff. I cannot say enough good thingsabout him. My spouse and I are so pleased andgrateful for Jeff! His work ethic is incomparable.Jim and Katie C., Naperville
