13 March

2019

From the Headmistress' desk

This is the final newsletter for the term.

We bid farewell to Mrs Charlotte Lira, who will be leaving us at the end of the term. Besides being the Fledgling

teacher, she worked at Reception, before changing hats and taking on her teaching role. We thank her for her

contribution to the school and wish her well for the future. Mrs Lira’s replacement, Miss Monique Jacob will

address the Fledgling parents at the Brag Evening on Tuesday the 19th of March at 17:00. Mr Ruan van Zyl, the

Computer Applications Technology teacher in the College will also be leaving us at the end of the term. We thank

him for his contribution to the school. Please spread the word that we are looking for a replacement for Mr van

Zyl.

Wow! Wow! Wow! What a wonderful Swimathon was held last Thursday evening. Thank you to all who

contributed to making it such a memorable event and to all who supported the event. It was once again a team

effort in every respect of the word. It warmed my heart to see all the members of the Kingfisher Private School

family having so much fun. Someone said, “Imagine if we could bottle all this happiness.” Well, if only, it would

be the most priceless content of any bottle.

Please provide us with feedback. Many of the evening’s activities, like the braai, are new and we would like

feedback regarding it, as well as whether some parents would like to buy food, like hamburgers. We need to have

more lucky packets in future, so remember we will need more “goodies” to be sent to school next year. What

about a parent/teacher race at the end?

The AMESA Mathematics Olympiad was written by all pupils from Grade 4 – 12 last Friday. Our chess players

acquitted themselves exceptionally well at last Saturday’s chess tournament. They were true ambassadors for our

school.

Thank you to the Grade 1-3 parents for their donations for the Cake Sale today and for assisting on the day.

Please remember the Preparatory School Inter-House Athletics meeting, to be held on Friday afternoon. We look

forward to seeing you there.

Final assembly is on Tuesday the 19th of March at 07:15 and all parents are welcome to attend. Our Grade 8 and 9

Entrepreneur’s Day will be held on Wednesday the 20th of March from 08:00. All parents are invited to support

this worthwhile venture.

We thank Rob 5 for a donation of stones for our gardens. They will be put to good use. Remember to like our

Facebook page. Our sincere thanks to the Board of Governors who has approved an air conditioner for the Grade

5 – 10 Aftercare classroom. This will make homework sessions, for over 40 pupils more comfortable.

We wish you a restful break from the school routine and remind all parents that school re-opens on the 02nd of

April. If you are going away, please drive safely.
