Hoping everyone is having a most enjoyable and relaxing summer and has included a healthy amount of
reading and listening materials to enhance the fun. There is still plenty of time to catch up on the books and
magazines you planned to get to this summer, or use one of our museum passes, attend one of the popular
outdoor concerts, learn from our interesting presenters, have your children or teens participate in the Summer
Reading Clubs or just unwind at a comfy chair and read a newspaper or use our Wi-Fi – all FREE! There is
always something for everyone at YOUR Seaford Public Library.

BLOOD DRIVE Monday, August 29th 4:00pm-8:30pm
The need for blood affects us all. Nine out of ten of us will need blood some time in our lives. In cooperation
with the Long Island Blood Services, a division of the New York Blood Center is proud to host a blood drive
in the Valentine Meehan Meeting Room. Anyone in good health between the ages of 17 and 75 may donate
blood. The procedure generally takes 7-10 minutes. After your donation, you will rest and have refreshments.
ANYONE DONATING BLOOD WILL RECEIVE TWO FREE METS TICKETS. Appointments are
recommended. Register now.
ENTERTAINMENT FOR A SATURDAY EVENING
“Seven Bridges Road” Saturday, August 13th A seven piece ensemble noted for their high performance energy, spot on covers and beautiful harmonies,
this classic rock cover band delivers songs from the Eagles, the Doobie Brothers and many other great artists
- brought to you in partnership with the SEAFORD WELLNESS COUNCIL – to be held at the Seaford
Train Station grass area at 7:30pm.
THIS CONCERT IS CO-SPONSORED BY THE BETHPAGE FEDERAL CREDIT UNION.

BUS TRIP
Join us when we visit Storm King Art Center, one of the world's leading sculpture parks located in New York's beautiful Hudson Valley. We will hop on a Tram to explore some of the 200 carefully sited sculptures dating from 1943 to the present. After our visit to the garden, we will go to the charming Lakeview House Restaurant located on scenic Orange Lake for a delicious lunch while overlooking the lake. What a lovely day! Luncheon choices are: Salmon Chang Mai - grilled salmon with a light sesame-teriyaki sauce topped with crispy noodles; Charbroiled London Broil with a green peppercorn sauce; Tuscan Chicken - boneless breast of chicken stuffed with grilled eggplant, prosciutto, provolone, and mozzarella served with a fresh tomato basil coulis; Shrimp Veracruz - baked Jumbo shrimp with a cheddar cracker crust served with a lemon scallion sauce; Rigatoni ala Vodka. All entrees are served with soup, salad, and rice pilaf. Homemade desserts to be announced. Choice of coffee or tea included. First come, first served. Each person on line may register for one other person. Pay by check only. No refunds. Registration begins Tuesday, August 23rd at the Circulation Desk.

THE LADY IN THE VAN Wednesday, August 24

This film tells the true story of the relationship between Alan
Bennett and the singular Miss Shepherd, a woman of uncertain
origins who 'temporarily' parked her van in Bennett's London
driveway and proceeded to live there for 15 years. Starring:

JAPANESE IKEBANA- FLOWER ARRANGING

WINES OF ITALY: A JOURNEY THROUGH
THE WINE REGIONS OF ITALY

There will be discussions of the most popular Italian wines along
with breathtaking photos of the different regions and wineries
where these wines are produced. Although the program does not
include wine tasting, you will walk away with a little more
confidence the next time you order wine in an Italian restaurant.

The 2016 Summer Reading Program, “On Your Mark, Get Set…READ” is winding down, and of course we'd like to give a big thank you to THE
CHILDREN OF SEAFORD who participated. Because without our young readers there wouldn't be a
Summer Reading Club. We had a record number of children register and participate in Summer
Reading including:
700+ registered participants 8,000+ people attended 80+ events Way to go Seaford!
Many thanks again to our volunteers who put in many busy hours during the months of June, July
and August. Without these dedicated workers, the Summer Reading Program would not be possible. An especially big note of thanks to Miss Sabrina,
Miss Nathalie, Miss Margaret, Maggie & Christopher. They are so amazing, both individually and as a
fantastic team. THANK YOU!
