What a busy time of year for us all. We are running at break neck speed from October to January, trying to get all our

pumpkin patches, sleepovers and holiday events. It is an exciting time around here and to be caught up in the children’s
excitement does something to us all . What a blessing to step outside ourselves and experience it all through their eyes,
their laughter and yes, their long list of demands, wish lists and expectations of us!! God is so Great!!
We want to thank New Hope UMC and Yukon UMC for all your hard work and countless days and hours spent on Apt #

Special thanks to Redemption UMC and to Wesley UMC for the beautiful Baby/ Wedding Shower you threw for Crystal
and Kadesh King!! It was over the top! I know they both were so moved by all of your kindness and generosity. Thank
you Marcia Manning, Theresa Owens, Redemption Jesus Girls and Sara Schieman and your group of ladies for all your
hard work in making this a special day for Crystal and Kadesh.
We were also honored to host Dee Dee Chumley, a volunteer from New Covenant UMC, here at Exodus House to hold
her book signing for “Some Form of Grace” which she wrote around the premise of the Exodus House. It is available on
Amazon and $2.00 from every sale goes to support Exodus House. There was a big turn out, great fellowship and of
course good food!! Special thanks to Paul Maxwell from Choctaw UMC for providing his great coffee for the event.
We are still in dire need of dressers, coffee pots, microwaves, vacuum cleaners, mops for wood floors, pots and pans and can openers. We are

CJAMM Family,
What an exciting time of year we are in. Even if you do not have a favorite
football team, watch the World Series, love the smell of pumpkin, or even the cool
crisp air there is no denying the joy of this season as we enter into the holidays.
As you read through the pages of the newsletter you will see where each
facet of our organization is. The coat drives, the holiday meals, and the sense of
servant hood that abounds within CJAMM is to me the most marvelous of God’s
mercies in Oklahoma.
Last month, I had the opportunity to go speak inside Boley Prison. As I
prepared my lesson, I began to pray for the men inside and that God would use me
to share what he wanted me to share. When I arrived, the men were very actively talking but there was
one gentleman who sat in the center of the room who seemed agitated by his surroundings. As one
gentleman talked about how he was reunited with his family and how God was working on him, the
gentleman in the center of the room stated very abruptly “I have one good ear and he’s in it.” I then
asked him if he wanted to talk and he stated something to the effect of “God has not talked to me in
eight years but I keep showing up.” I then started sharing with him that a few years back I too felt as if
God was not talking to me and I had a friend tell me “sometimes we have to praise him in the hallway
and trust that he will open a door.” We then went into our praise and worship music. The praise band
was phenomenal and you could feel the desire for Christ to be in the room. As the second song began
(Even If by Mercy Me) you could feel the anointing take over the room. As I looked in the center of the
room, my new friend began to cry as did others in the room. I found myself needing a Kleenex as well.
At the end of the service as communion was served and the men scurried back to their unit for head
count, the gentleman looked at me and said “I will praise him in the hallway and I felt him today.”
At CJAMM we have an amazing opportunity of a matching grant. For every dollar given that
is ear marked matching grant (from now until November 30, 2017) we have a donor that will match the
funds. Please pray and help us however you can this season.
Below are pictures of how God is working this year to help those affect by incarceration and it
will show you how God has not forgotten the least and the lost.
Sincerely,
Kristen D. Harlin

Fall 2017
TULSA REDEMPTION CHURCH
Greetings,
I hope everyone is having a great start to the fall season.
Life in Tulsa is extremely good. I am so proud of our volunteers
and workers. God continues to transform lives and touch the
heart of his people. Daniel and Darlene are both busy with new
residents as well as taking care of the needs of our clients and
facilities. Heather White is doing her internship with CJAMM
and is involved with our clients on a one on one basis. There
seems to be a renewed commitment and realization that recovery
and building a relationship with Christ go hand in hand.
The dedication of our teaching staff as they impact the lives of
our residence is amazing. They truly are the hands and feet of
Jesus. Our transportation workers are our true unsung heroes!
Thank you for your commitment.
As winter approaches we’re in need of used coats and
warm clothing. We normally have a need for about 300
coats if you are in a position to be a blessing with us in this
area please drop them by the church office. We are thankful
to the Boston Avenue HUGS class that generously donate
coats, hats and scarves every year. A big thank you to our
apartment sponsors and local churches who help us on a
daily basis. We are so appreciative. We could not do what
we do without the help and hearts of Gods people.
As we approach this Christmas season I can’t help but
reflect on what Christ has done for us and how that has
impacted all our lives
Yours in Christ,
Steve Bear

LAWTON REDEMPTION CHURCH
Another month has come and gone and we have had to deal with matters that are not always fun. We
celebrated the life of another of our original volunteers, one of the organizers of the Lawton Redemption Church,
Michael A. Ewing, Sr. on All-Saints Day, November 1, 2017. This was particularly tough for me, as both as pastor
and individual, as Mike was one of the main reasons that I got involved with that first group and became one of the
original volunteers. Looking back, I can see things about those people that helped get this church off the ground and I
am so very thankful for all they did. I will probably overlook someone, but the ones that I remember clearly are Bob
and Maureen Wiseman, Dan Wiseman, Chuck and Agnes Boyle, Lyle and Evelyn Ball, Rev. Elijah and Miriam
Mitchell, Elsie Zachry, Dan and Gloria Eppler, Mr. Jim Martin, the Turner family, and myself, Rev. Lory Fahle. There are only a
handful of us left, the others have gone on to be with the Lord.
As we begin to look forward to this holiday season, let us not forget to look back at those who have allowed us to follow in
their footsteps and continue this work that they started with the same joy with which they brought it into being.
—Blessings, Rev. Lory J. Fahle
We had our typical Sunday at Redemption this week. Five Turley women graduated “Thinking for a Change.” After hearing a message
of hope and love during worship, everyone received a new Hat, a pair of Gloves and a Scarf. Next, they were served a wonderful chicken
dinner by Roundtable class of Boston Avenue UMC. This was HUGS Sunday! The “U” was underwear provided by Roundtable for new
residents at Exodus House and the Parsonage. But that is not all. After dinner, one of our Avalon men had family from miles away visit
him. They were able to worship together, enjoy a wonderful meal, and then he was excused from class to visit with his family in the
Community Room. Through our volunteers and churches, Jesus was busy and enjoying every minute of this CJAMM Sunday.
As Steve Bear stated above, we have been blessed this semester with Heather Sisson-White, a University of Oklahoma student doing her
practicum in social work at Redemption and Exodus House. She attended Redemption classes as she transitioned back into society and
became a beloved part of our church family. Redemption volunteer was next on her agenda. Now as a student she continues her interest
in criminal justice reform. She is teaching and interacting with our clients at Redemption and facilitating Community Meetings at Exodus
House. Thank you, Heather. Now can you share some of your thoughts?
“Support, care, love, guidance and direction are the words used by many of the Exodus House residents to describe the Exodus House
program. Residents are grateful for their sponsor churches, Exodus House and St. Luke’s Redemption staff, and the many volunteers.
The Exodus House program has a high success rate proving it truly takes a community supporting people released from prison. When
individuals are released from prison, they struggle with finding jobs, transportation, housing, finances, etc. Thanks to all the hard work our
volunteers and CJAMM staff invest in the program, better lives and stronger communities are possible after incarceration.”

Summer is past, leaving us with warm memories of our Annual Labor Day Reunion. We owe a debt of gratitude to the volunteers
from Owasso First UMC who participated in the “Change the World” mission. These are the folks who through their donations and
labor keep the Exodus House campus beautiful! This year Marty Howerton, who is the key sponsor for Faith UMC’s apartment,
prepared the main course. It was pulled pork and boy, was it a hit! Many thanks to our E-team, Al & Nalani Nordean and Lloyd &
Paula Applegate who were busy greeting guests, serving food and overseeing the whole affair. Each year our amazing volunteers
make the Reunion an event to remember!
We congratulate James Deel and his sponsor, First UMC Tulsa, for his graduation from Exodus House. James has seven children
he had not seen in several years, but with the help of his sponsor, Jeannie McDaniel, he has reunited with all of them! James and
Jeannie have been busy working on repairs to his new home, so he can regularly have
his children with him in the future.
Here at Exodus House we are joyfully anticipating the holidays. The Christmas Season
is especially precious to those of us who have not been able to celebrate it for a very
long time. The smells, the sounds, the lights, the fancy wrapped presents and most of all
the children are a part of a past that many of us thought was gone forever. But at Exodus
House, we know that miracles do happen, and we get to witness those miracles every
year at this time.
As always, we thank you for your generosity, love, sweat and prayers! It is you guys,
our volunteers, who are the “miracle makers”!
We’d love to have you come for a tour or visit. Call Darlene Lorenz at 918-231-4013 to
let us know when you will be coming.

We are excited to welcome our new Lay Servant ~ Heather Weavers. We are also blessed to have Julia Cox and Theresa Owens
continuing with the Advanced Lay Servant studies. Julia is working toward becoming a Lay Speaker as well. Awesome ladies!
We have been both honored and blessed that Jones United Methodist Church served our entire congregation a delicious meal of
brisket, smoked sausage, pulled pork and the most wonderful homemade pies and cakes! Rowena Cramer and her sister Beverly Purvis were
the representatives from Jones UMC. We had a delightful meal and a blessed time of sharing. The Mary Martha Circle from Chapel Hill
United Methodist also brought a meal of yummy sandwiches, chips, homemade cookies, brownies, pumpkin bread and all the trimmings for
the sandwiches. It is always a joy to have these precious, loving women bring their beautiful spirits and yummy goodies to share with all who
enter our doors. We THANK YOU, EACH OF YOU! It is heart-warming and tummy-filling to share in the work of your hands and the joy
of your hearts in filling us in so many ways!
We are in real need of men’s clothing in our clothing closet. Our need is from underwear to coats, shoes
and boots. Our closet offers clothes to the incarcerated, not only those we bring to church but to those who case
managers contact us about. We also serve people leaving County Jail programs as well as the marginalized
citizens of our area. Thank you all for keeping us supplied with such an excellent selection of gently used
wearables for those we serve. We appreciate you and your support so very much.
Ronnie Bias, Tony Williamson and Kimberly Van Norman shared their stories with the youth of Acts 2
United Methodist Church. It was a wonderful evening for everyone! The youth were divided into three groups
and each one of our congregants was able to visit with each group as well as the young people individually. The youth were filled with
questions and were joyfully responsive.
Redemption has had the joy of having the wedding for two couples who have been a part of our church for a while. Bruce Howard
and Liz Williams were married October 14th and Kadesh King and Crystal Sweeden October 21st. We were also able to have a wedding
shower for Crystal and Kadesh. It is such a joy to see the work of God’s hand in the lives of His children!
We are so thankful for all our amazing volunteers who continue to support this wonderful ministry with their hands, their feet and
their talents. Thank you, each of you, for being such a very special part of God’s Redemption village.
Please consider yourselves hugged! Thank you to each one who supports Redemption ministry in any way. This very special
ministry does not happen on its’ own! It takes a village, so to speak! THANK YOU for being such a valuable, special resident of God’s
village! —God’s blessings, Marcia
