Dear Chapter Members and Colleagues,
As we close out another scorching summer in the Tampa Bay Area and roll into hopefully a cooler autumn season for 2016 our Chapter I’m hap-py to report that we continue to exceed our expectations with our goals of providing educational opportunities, scholarship awards, community involvement and a positive financial picture for the year. As I always tell you in my updates our Chapter and the Board are only as successful as our member commitment and support of our events. Our recent September Luncheon continued our goal to provide members with educational opportunities and we had a great presentation by Lisa Premo from NIGP and our former Chapter President Theresa Webb who currently works for the City of Delray Beach, Florida. The topic of the presentation was “NIGP Global Best Practices – Specification Writing”. Lisa gave a great overview of the NIGP Global Best Practices initiatives that cover many procurement operational topics including specification writing and was very informative. That presentation and handouts are available on our website if you missed it. Another part of that September luncheon was the election of three Board positions. Tara Bohnsack (Pasco County BOCC) was elected Secretary, Rhonda Simmons (City of Tarpon Springs) was elected Communications Chair and Kathleen Fisher (Tampa International Airport) was elected Professional Development Chair. Congratulations to these three new Board elects and we look forward to your contributions to continue our TBAC NIGP success in the future! As I reported at our recent September Chapter Luncheon we are current-ly showing a positive annual financial balance of almost $19K. The im-pressive thing regarding this number is that we have already paid out most of the costs of this year’s scholarship awards including sending 18 members to the National NIGP Forum this year. I was unable to make it to Forum this year but heard great things about the event and hope that we are able to continue to send a large number of our members via scholarship award to next year’s event in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Board Member Updates
TBAC Vice President There are still a few opportunities available in 2016 to earn valuable scholarship points such as at-
tending and participating in the Reverse Trade Show on Friday, October 14th, attending the December
luncheon, and writing an article for our newsletter.
In the next few weeks I will be working up the list of
scholarship points earned for each member so that you
can see what you have earned for the 2016 calendar
year. Please remember, if you had points in 2015 that
you ‘rolled’ over to 2016, you can combine them with
your 2016 points, however, they must be used in 2017.
If you are going to roll your 2016 points over to be used
in 2018, now would be a good time to start planning
your volunteer opportunities for 2017.
I would like to take a moment to thank each of the Chapter members that continue to volunteer, attend
events and meetings and take time out of their hectic schedules to promote our Chapter. It is because
of your dedication to the Chapter and our profession that the TBAC continues to grow and be suc-
cessful year after year.
Next year I will have the great opportunity of being your Chapter President and look forward to your
feedback. The Board will hold their annual planning meeting in the next few weeks to discuss ideas,
events and strategies for the upcoming year. Please don’t hesitate to email me any questions or sug-
gestions you may have so that they can be discussed with all the Board members.
Thank you again for all your support!
