I cannot thank Branch and Unit 46 for all that they do to assuring that National President visit has a gratifying experience while visiting the area. I attended the Branch and Unit 46 general meeting and the welcoming was exceptional. I really appreciate that they came together to support my project “Warriors to Soul Mate”. I was overwhelmed with the generous donations that I received from everyone. The Aloha spirit is very much with everyone in the Branch and Unit. Once, again A Big Thank You to Branch and Unit 46 Honolulu. I was able to meet with representatives of the Volunteer Services at Tripler and they expressed a need in Hawaii for services provided under the program that I selected. We shared ideas and will work toward achieving that goal to be able to provide assistance for volunteer services. As we move forward with business of the LA FRA there were questions regarding our annual “Pilgrimage”. The ball was dropped and at this time we have no contract for our hotel arrangements as we have done in the past where we had a contract for a period of three years. This was talked about two years ago and it was said well we have one year left on the contract but no one followed up and now we are in the situation of having to scramble to see if we are even going to have a Pilgrimage for the year 2016. I have asked that PNP Doreen Huylebroeck as she is familiar with the area to work with Karen Brown on finding the Auxiliary a hotel. It is not an easy task as it’s very late and many of the hotels are already booked for other events. The cost for the hotels is very expensive and I would never ask that members pay what they are asking. I would like the members of the Auxiliary to understand that if we lose our Pilgrimage for one year that it may be gone forever. Other organizations have their President fly into the area place the wreath and fly back out. This is something that I would hate to see happen to the Auxiliary. It has been a tradition for many years and we have lost so many traditions that have never come back to being implemented again. We know that many members who attend the “Pilgrimage” have to plan in advance so I have asked PNP Doreen to please try to find a smaller hotel with restaurants within walking distance so that we may continue with the tradition of our annual “Pilgrimage”. The FRA has offered the conference center for the Tea and that is acceptable. Transportation is another concern and we will in take everything into consideration in the next month or two and we will publish to the members our findings either way. FROM THE DESK OF THE NATIONAL PRESIDENT

Auxiliary Members,

It has been another great experience returning to Honolulu, HI to attend the events of Pearl Harbor. This year the ceremony was held in a Hanger as a test gearing towards the 75th Anniversary year in 2016. It had all the flare of years passed. I had the pleasure of meeting many dignitaries during the event.

Transportation is another concern and we will in take everything into consideration in the next month or two and we will publish to the members our findings either way.

when we are elected to do a job that we must always do our best ask questions if you do not know the answers try to find out. There was a failing this pass year and now we are at a cross roads where we must ensure that when a person takes a position in the Auxiliary that they may fulfill their assigned duties and when they cannot please look at the good of the Auxiliary so that this does not happen in the future.

We will make every effort to keep you informed of ongoing of the organization it is imperative that we strive to make the association a stronger entity for future members.

If you are celebrating a Birthday, Anniversary, or any other special occasion please know that we wish you happiness in your celebrations. Please accept are condolences if you have lost a love one and know that our prayers are with you and your family.

I remain in Loyalty, Protection, and Service,

From the desk of the NE/NEng Regional President

Although we have only six units, the Northeast/New England Region is doing well. The Units continue with various projects such as a Cake less Cake Sale; making phone calls to shut-ins; attending funerals, rituals, and parades. For example, Unit 226/Staten Island donated to “Wreaths Across America” at Arlington National Cemetery; Unit 124/Lakehurst volunteers to read at local schools on America Day; another Unit donates to the local food pantry, and Unit 20/Groton helps serve breakfast at the Branch Home. Other members help out at the local VA hospitals. A member in Maine meets and greets servicemen and women at Bangor Airport as they leave and/or return from deployment. Obviously, this is only part of what the members do. This Region may be small, but each and every member does their part for the Auxiliary. The Regional Mid-year will be held at Branch and Unit 124 in Lakehurst, NJ on April 30, 2016. Information will be available soon. The Regional convention will be August 19-20, 2016 hosted by Branch and Unit 20 Groton, CT. Rooms have been blocked at the Groton Inn and Suites @ $84.00 per night which includes breakfast. I hope that we will have a good turnout. As in other regions, recruiting new members is difficult as there aren’t many active bases and at those that do exist, some of the regulations prohibit us from hosting activities that would provide the opportunity to talk to prospective candidates. The members do their best and work particularly hard to at least keep what members that we have. They call or send out postcards as a reminder for those that are due for renewal and make an effort to encourage those who have been suspended to reinstate their membership. As in the past, I will be attending an awards ceremony in May at the Coast Guard Academy. This is a very impressive ceremony held during Senior week. The FRA Regional President also presents an award and is invited to attend the graduation. The day starts with a Pass in Review and as many times as I’ve attended, I am still awestruck. Thank you for the opportunity to once again serve as the Regional President and I hope to see you all at the NE/New England Regional Convention and then again at the National Convention in Jacksonville, FL In Loyalty Protection and Service, PNP Cindy Rodham Tuck Regional President Northeast/New England

From the Desk of East Coast Region President

Thank you for the opportunity to be your President this year. Visiting Unit functions and meeting our

members has been incredible, they are such giving and patriotic representatives of the LA-FRA. This should make all of us proud to be members of the LA-FRA. The officers of the East Coast Region are: Regional Vice-President Shirley Vatter, Unit 93, MD, Patuxent River Md., Regional Secretary, Cathleen Erickson, Unit 24, Annapolis, Md., Regional Chaplain, Ruby Lopez, Unit 4, Washington, D.C., and Regional Treasurer, Cindy Jones, Unit 93, Patuxent River, Md. Our Units take part in many projects, such as visiting VA hospitals, VA community centers, attending funerals, playing bingo with nursing home patients, attending parades and ceremonies’. These are only a few of the ventures under taken by East Coast Units.

I had the privilege to attend the Military Humanitarian Ball that was held by Unit 4. A lot of fun was had by all. Unit 93 tutors Brazilian Navy wives in English, hosted a Craft Fair, which was a great way to start shopping for the holidays. Unit 24 has started to plan the 4 th Annual Annapolis/Kent Island Veteran’s K9 5K or 10K. Dogs are allowed to participate with their owners. The money raised goes to help with the expenses of training service dogs to be given to Veterans in need of their help. Also, I would like to have each Unit that is able to work with children to teach them that the Police and Firemen are here to help them and not to harm them. Most Police and Fire Departments are willing to help with a program. I have worked with our local Police and Fire Departments in setting up a National Nights Out. Some of you probably have either helped or heard of NNO. Our district was expecting 500 people to attend, but ended up with over 2,000. It was a very busy and rewarding evening for all.

A significant part of each Unit is to retain the members currently on their roles, working on reinstating members who are past due and recruiting new members. Each Unit tries to make every new member feel welcomed and part of the organization. New members usually are initiated on their first Unit meeting. The East Coast Region will have our mid-year in February 19-20, 2016, in Richmond, Va. Our regional Convention will be held in Williamsburg, Va. on August 25-28, 2016. All are welcome to attend our mid-year and the regional convention. The 2016 National Convention is in Jacksonville, Fla., on October 9 – 16, 2016. Branch and Unit 91 (Jacksonville Fla.) will be our host. Please mark these dates on your calendars.

Hope everyone had a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy, Blessed, and Prosperous New Year.

In Loyalty, Protection and Service, Katherine J. Bearden Regional President East Coast

Miss Me – But Let Me Go! Edgar A. Guest

When I come to the end of the road And the sun has set for me

I want no rites in a gloom-filled room. Why cry for a soul set free?

Miss me a little–but not too long And not with your head bowed low.

Remember the love that we once shared, Miss me–but let me go.

For this is a journey that we all must take And each must go alone.

It's all a part of the Master's plan, A step on the road to home.

When you are lonely and sick of heart Go to the friends we know

And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds. Miss Me–But Let me Go
