Dictionary.com defines booster as: “(noun) A person or thing that boosts, especially an energetic and enthusiastic supporter”. To me this definition best describes our Board and our members. In the two weeks since our first parent meeting we got several new families joining the booster club and many new volunteers. I want to thank you in advance for your time and support and welcome to the club!

Keep in mind that the CWMP Booster Club organizes the General Meetings to keep you, the parents, in the loop as to what is going on in the CWMP program as well as our booster club. If there is something you think should be included in a meeting that could benefit all, please send me an email. The booster club is here for the kids, the teachers, the school and YOU. Our next meeting is No-vember 12th at 6:30pm in the Teachers Auditorium.

P.S. As a group we have an endless supply of energy and enthusiasm and are only limited by our resources. If you know of any family that should be a part of our Booster Club and is not, please encourage them to join.

Adopt-A-Teacher Program Needs You!

Many thanks to our volunteers already participating in the Adopt-A-Teacher Program.

It is a tradition in the medical program to adopt a mentor in our children's education. There are still several teach-ers available for adoption. Please consider taking one of our remaining teachers under your wing to help support them with small tokens of appreciation throughout the year. If you would like to adopt one of our dedicated medical teachers, please contact Robin May at [email protected].

Thank you to all our families who helped support our teachers last year with 100% participation. Their kind-ness and generosity is truly appreciated: Bennett Family, Beresh Family, Blight Family, Cabaniss Family, Connelly Family, Davis Family, Dyiak Family, Frost Family, Gold-man Family, Hood Family, Izquierdo Family, Kelly Family, Lim-Enage Family, Miller Family, Michiner Family, Mul-lins Family, Myers Family, Phillips Family, Pujol Family, Ruland Family, Walker Family, Ward Family.

In this edition of The Pulse we highlight two CWMP students taking advantage of just some of what Palm Harbor University has to offer.

Andrew and Matthew Bartolotti are juniors in the medical program. They both play Varsity baseball for PHU and are Peer Connector leaders. They are members of HOSA and just this year, have joined FBLA. In addition, they are fulfilling their volunteer requirements at Arden Courts.

The Pulse: That sounds like a pretty hectic schedule; do you find it challenging to juggle all that and your home-work and studies?

Andrew/ Matthew: Sometimes it can be.

The Pulse: Is the Medical program anything like you thought it would be?

Andrew: I thought that I would not have enough time to do anything else but schoolwork. Even though some-times it is tough, I am able to do other activities.

Matthew: I knew that I wanted to be in the Medical program but I did not think that meant that I would not see the University students at all. I wish that the school wasn’t so divided.

The Pulse: With two full years at PHUHS under your belt, what has been your favorite class/teacher so far?

Andrew: Algebra II with Mr. McCoy.

Matthew: World History Honors with Mr. Fulp.

We would like to honor Mrs. Zuelke as our highlighted teacher of the month.

Mrs. Zuelke is our 9th grade Health Science 1 teacher. She has been teaching at PHUHS for two years. She has proven to be a valuable addition to our medical magnet program. She has a contagious smile and an infectious positive attitude. Her personable rapport and connection to her students makes her one of our favorite teachers. She is truly loved by all her students.

Mrs. Zuelke grew up in Miami Florida and is a University of Florida graduate. Before coming to teach at PHU, she was a nurse at Mease Countryside Hospital in the Cardiac Care/Stroke Unit. Cardiac patients were her favorite patients to work with because everyday was something different and she was always learning something new. She has also worked in the educational department at Bayfront Medical Center and at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida.

Her favorite part of teaching is the students. She enjoys watching her student’s reactions to learning about the medical field. Her funniest classroom memory is when she poured water down herself and hit herself trying to demonstrate the function of the neuro system.

Her advice to her students is for them to do what they really like to do. Doing what you love and being happy is her greatest wish for all of her students. She admires the persistent and curious student. Those two quali-ties will help them be successful in the classroom and in life.

She is married with three children; a daughter, Melodie, age 14 and twin boys, Christopher and Matthew, age 12 and a sassy bunny named Long Ears. Long Ears has his own unique personality but is part of the family so they keep him even though he can be naughty. For fun she enjoys reading, going out to dinner and doing family activities. She loves to play with her kids, make cards and travel. Her favorite restaurants are Outback Steakhouse and Olive Garden. Her favorite vacation spot is the Grand Canyon.
