Here’s Why Our mission is to bring world-class music to our community, to open the hearts and minds of our children to great orchestral music, and to welcome local musicians and students into the BrSO family. We offer free tickets for children under 18; we host local school choruses & ensembles in our performances; we donate to the Brockton High School Music Scholarship Fund for music lessons for students in the Brockton Public Schools; and we offer our annual Youth Concerto Competition for talented young musicians. Revel in classical music’s greatest love themes as we conquer classical music’s loftiest peaks, from Wagner’s tempestuous Flying Dutchman Overture and Tschaikowsky’s mighty Fifth Symphony, to Bernstein’s stunning On the Waterfront and West Side Story suites…Happy 100th Birthday, Lenny! We cap our gala anniversary celebration with Saint-Saens’ glorious Organ Symphony, featuring Christ Congregational Church’s magnificent Austin Organ.

Warm your soul and come in from the cold at our family-friendly concert. Enjoy the solos as each section showcases their instruments – Mark Finklestein, oboe; Torben Hansen, clarinet; Elizabeth Jones, French horn; and Emilian Badea, bassoon perform Mozart’s charming Sinfonia Concertante for Winds. We also feature our 2016 Youth Competition winner, violin

virtuoso Alex Goldberg, performing Sarasate’s exhilarating Carmen Fantasy. Then immerse yourself in vivid renditions of Smetana’s scenes along the river Moldau, Glazounow’s images of medieval Europe in Suite from the Middle Ages, and John Williams’ famous Star Wars Suite.
