EASY DOES IT! After a lot of initiative and commitment put in by the Council, members are now in a position to communicate with each other on a regular basis and also interact with us through the website. This delay has mainly been due to the fact that our website had been hacked twice in quick succession. Additionally, our members’ database had also become obsolete. Our website is now partly functional. We hope to make it ready to use in all respects by the end of June 2015. Once the upgradation is done, the website will not only be an interactive one, but will also have an integrated payment gateway. We are reintroducing “Easy does It”, our quarterly newsletter. This will reach all members via email and a printed copy will be dispatched by ordinary post / courier to each member. It is a well known fact that we have a very varied and well accomplished pool of literary talent within our Society. I would like to invite our members to volunteer as the Editor for this newsletter. We would also appreciate articles, news items, personal achievements, humorous anecdotes and any other items that would be of readership interest to the members of our Society. The beginning of the year has kick-started very well. The first meet was held in January at Cochin. The Addicts were introduced to the new CIAL course. The course was played very well and it was thoroughly enjoyed. The second meet was held in February at Hyderabad. As ever, the Hyderabad Addicts gave us a taste of the ‘Nawabi treatment’, so much so that we felt like Nawabs with delicious food and an amazing course. The third meet was held in March at Kodaikanal. Though we experienced perfect weather for golf and warm hospitality from the locals, we wish the turnout to be better next time. Please clear your calendars for the next meets to be held at Chennai, Coorg, Mysore and Coimbatore respectively, in the next quarter. Looking forward to active participation, valid contributions and valuable feedback so as to make Addicts rock by keeping up the motto of ‘Easy Does It’. V. PRAKASH (Hon. This delay has mainly been due to the fact that our website had been hacked twice in quick succession. Additionally, our members’ database had also become obsolete. Our website is now partly functional. We hope to make it ready to use in all respects by the end of June 2015.

Dear Fellow Addicts,

It is with a sense of excitement & fulfillment, that we the members of the Managing Council would like to share with you the following positive developments in the functioning of our Society.

Revival of our newsletter ‘Easy Does it’ in physical as well as in electronic form. Through this we hope to communicate better with all our members regarding the activities of the Society. We also hope to encourage interaction among our members through the newsletter.

In addition, generation of funds by way of advertisements in the newsletter and on our website would help tide over the revenue deficit, at least to some extent. Special mention of our Bangalore Council Members Capt. Jaganath Kotekar, Mr. Ramachandran Venkataraman as well as Mr. K.K.Mathew from Bangalore must be made for their efforts in reviving the newsletter.

The International Meet in Turkey took place from the 3rd to the 9th of May. We had 50 members, of which about 22 were ladies. We played on some of the best courses in Turkey during this tour. It was a memorable event for all the participants.

Our payment gateway is more or less ready and we hope to have it operational by the end of June 2015. This facility will ease the process of paying the participation fees for all our meets.

Members Database: The database of our members at all our centres were incomplete and outdated. We have now more or less updated this database and are now in a better position to communicate with all our members. My sincere thanks to all our Council Members for helping in this exercise.

I would like to express concern about the dwindling participation at some of the meets. We need to market ourselves better at the respective centres and get more sponsors, thus ensuring that we give the participants and their companions more than their money’s worth at each meet. Moreover we could also take a relook about the possibility of reintroducing the Friday dinner.

Your suggestions on this as well as on the ways and means to further improve the functioning of our society are most welcome.

I would request our past captains, scribes and senior members to contribute (by way of articles, photographs and anecdotes) to the newsletter that we have now revived. Your contributions will go a long way in making the newsletter informative as well as entertaining.

Thanking you

Little white golf ball please tell me of the trick

to hitting you down the middle with this skinny little stick.

I try to keep my left arm straight - my head is always down

but still I see my best attempt go dribbling on the ground.

Why do I pull you to the left, or slice you to the right?

What will it take to hit you straight until you're out of sight?

The money spent on lessons - all the practice balls I hit

only adds to my frustration when it doesn't help a bit.

For even when I do things right it only lasts a while.

It never seems like very long before I lose my smile.

Little golf ball please tell me of the trick

to hitting you down the middle with this skinny little stick.

Journeys end. Memories live on.

5For correspondence Email: [email protected] or visit www.addictsgolf.com

Over the years I’ve attended Addicts Golfing Society‘s International Meets all over the

world, but the Addicts International Meet held at Turkey was one of the best I’ve

ever attended. From meeting the food preferences at Doha Airport to being escorted

to the transit lounge, everything was done with perfection. Our senior companions

Mrs. Shantha Reddy and her sister were extremely delighted with the assistance

provided to them.

It’s always a pleasurable experience staying in a well-accommodated and comfortable

place after tiring journeys, which is what the hotels in Antalya and Istanbul offered

us. The golf courses in Antalya were well-maintained and had beautiful greens &

excellent fairways. The Mediterranean bordering around the golf courses made it

look even more impressive.

Being a melting pot of many civilizations and different people, Istanbul attracts

tourists from all over the world. We were overwhelmed by the beautiful sights and

wonderful experiences in the city. The jewel in the crown was the cruise on the

Bosphorus with the 'Twirling Maulvis' & the entertaining Belly Dance was the icing on

the cake!

This trip wouldn’t have been amazing without the support of team Footprints under

the guidance of Vish. They have done an excellent job in making it a memorable one.

No wonder they are the experts in organizing Addicts International Meets. Last but

not the least, it was Deepak who always went the extra mile to make sure we all had

smiles on our faces throughout the journey. A big thanks to him for all his efforts as

well as capturing our beautiful moments in the beautiful city.

Iona D'Cunha Addicts Golfing Society member,Hyderabad.
