Top left: In this spacious Cornerstone kitchen, shades of blue reflect the home’s waterfront location. The use of Chambray paint on the base cabinets softens the transi-tion between deep Navy and crisp White.

Lower left: In this Millennia design, Palermo in White HG Foil is paired with our Pinnacle door in Vineyard Oak TSS.

Top right: The Apex door in White Super Matte for Millennia is a beautiful counterpoint to Valley Forge in beech with a rich Sable stain, and gives the small kitchen nook an open, inviting feel.

Lower right: In this compact Katana design, Vista in maple/Graphite teams with Pinnacle in White HG Laminate

WOOD-LOOK TILE:A Lasting Trend

Read on for a few reasons why wood-look tiles are a great choice when it comes to flooring:

Wood floors are a classic lookHardwood flooring has been through dramatic design changes and engineering evolutions, and wood-look tiles are an affordable, low-maintenance and timeless alternative to the real thing.

Softens modern designIf there’s one thing that hardwood floors contribute to design, it’s warmth! And since contemporary design can come off as cold, wood-look tile is that rustic element that softens an overwhelmingly mod-ern space. In the Millennia kitchen shown above, the floors are an excellent complement to the TSS cabinets in Gunsmoke (Towson door style).

Flows through the homeWood tile looks beautiful through-out the home, and Consumer Reports states that tile stands up to wet and highly-trafficked areas of the home better than hardwood flooring. This means you can have wood-look tiles as part of your bathroom and kitchen design…step directly onto it after a shower, or splash water while doing dishes with no damage to the floor.

VersatilityThere is even more upside to wood-look tile than durability: there is versatility in color, plank size, orientation, details, and tex-ture. This gives a flooring installer lots of flexibility in the look of the finished floor, as tiles can be laid in a pattern, such as chevron, or multiple plank sizes can be mixed to create a truly dynamic design.

Porcelain and ceramic tiles allow you to bring the warmth of wood to your kitchen, bathroom, laundry or other “wet” room - that’s a “win” in our book!

Snowcap, Navy and Ash paints are coming

to Katana! Watch for details later this spring...

Spruce Up A Boring BedroomIt’s relatively easy to take a boring bed-room and turn it into a restful retreat. Fresh paint, new bedding and a beautiful piece of art are a great place to start. Here’s a few more ideas:

If you have the space, move the treadmill out! Bring in a couple of cozy chairs or a small sofa to create a space to relax in.

Make your bed a feature with built-in nightstands that include dimmable light-ing, like this Cornerstone design. If you’re really crunched for space, add pretty baskets for additional storage.

Big Ideas for a Small ClosetHave a small closet, but aren’t sure how to make it mighty? We’ve got a few ideas you can use to gain command of the area, and make every inch of that space work for you.

Shelving. With shelves, it’s easy to store folded pieces and keep things organized while in plain sight. Shelves are also great for holding purses, bags, scarves, and hats. Canyon Creek Closets Plus has a number of shelving modules to make design easy.

Bins. Consider going low-profile by adding storage bins to shelving. They work well for storing sweaters, T-shirts, socks and workout gear. Storage bins give the appearance of neat-ness…even when things are not. This keeps your small space looking uncluttered.

Design. Make your small walk-in closet feel unique by painting the ceiling or back wall a bold color, or adding weathered peel and stick wood planks. Don’t forget the lighting…consider a hanging lamp or chandelier. Remember, a well-lit closet is easier to use and encourages neatness.
