Warm summer breezes poolside, dockside, on the patio and on the beach. What better place to be but at MYC with a cool cocktail and a deli- cious appetizer...sounds good right? Let's get ready for sun, the pool, boats, socializ- ing, music, staycation and fun at your club. The docks are coming alive, the pool is getting a fantastic facelift, our grounds are looking great (thanks to all the hard Work Day member effort) and we have so many exciting member events planned! This is the time of year where there is a lot of movement in our dry sail area and on our docks. Contact the dock staff upon bringing in or moving your vessel and help our Dockmaster Matt Iovanna help you to have a safe and enjoyable boating season. Our pool upgrade project is in its final stages with new filtration installed, deck repairs being completed, car- peting scheduled for install and a few other surprises...we are all exited for the grand re-opening! Our restaurant is in full swing with theme nights, special events and always a warm welcome from our great staff. Please be sure to sign in all guests upon arrival , as its the law. Also remember MYC for any private events you or your acquaintances may have. We offer multiple packages for all events and parties. I'm looking forward to seeing you all at so many important and fun events in May. First up - Kentucky Derby at MYC...enjoy the race on the big screen! Next– Cinco de Mayo!. Enjoy the Mexican celebration with a spicy enchilada and refreshing margarita! Show Mom your love by bringing her to our Mothers Day Dinner Buf- fet, featuring an amazing spread by Chef David! Come down and take part in tradition for the 117th Com- missioning Ceremonies. Listen to the officersaddresses and enjoy the pomp and circumstance, music, food and drink! And last but not least, Sneaky Pete is on stage Memorial Day weekend to kick off the summer con- cert season. These guys played last year at MYC and will be one of our house bands for years to come. Come on down and let's dance our way into summer! See you all in my whites to raise the flag after we fire off the first cannon blast of the year! Ken Herbert Commodore

    Welcome to Commissioning month! We

are already in full swing and have had

    some very successful pre-season events.

The staff, Bar and Restaurant, and Enter-

    tainment Committees have convened

many times over the last three months

    to ensure the membership experience

will be the best ever in 2019.

We have a very enthusiastic Entertain-

ment Committee that is looking to intro-

duce some new activities for our young-

est club members in the JYC this sum-

mer. Also, there are some added healthy activities such as Sunday

morning Yoga on the lawn. Please check out the new JYC Activity

Board in The Rudder for information on upcoming Juniors’ events. I

invite everyone to attend all MYC events and take advantage of all

that MYC has to offer. Special thanks to this Committee for all of their

help on St. Patrick’s Day and with the Children’s Easter Egg Hunt.

Lastly, I need to remind everyone that we have added vaping to our

House Rules pertaining to smoking. Please be considerate of all your

fellow members. Additionally, please remember that we must sign in

all our guests with their names and full addresses to be in compli-

ance with Connecticut Liquor Control Commission regulations and

    state statutes.

I am excited that we are on the verge of a great summer and I hope

to see everyone in the Commodore’s Lounge and Main Dining Room

for great food and drink, feel-good music and the best views and

sunsets on Long Island Sound. See you all soon.
