1 Newsletter No. 10 - Term 2 Week 1 19 April 2018 From the Principal…………. Welcome back to Term 2. This term is always a busy term with Open Night, Foundation Information night and, at the end of the term, reports and 3-way conferences. However, one of the ceremonies that we always attend is the Youth Service at the Shrine of Remembrance to honour ANZAC Day. This year I will be taking 21 of our Grade 5/6 students to the Shrine tomorrow to join this Service. The children I will be taking will be able to return to school and tell their fellow students all about the service. It is a very poignant service but it is directed to children so that they will be able to understand this important moment in our history. I do encourage families to visit the Shrine at some stage, not only during this ANZAC Day, but at any time. Visiting the Shrine is very important for our students to learn about and acknowledge our history. Please look for our student comments in next week’s newsletter. House Cross Country This exciting event in our school’s calendar will be happening next Tuesday, 24 th April. I know our PE Teacher, Jess Swingler, has been delighted with the amount of support our school community has offered for the day. The children are very excited already and have been training for their events and discussing the house colours and how they can embellish their T-shirts so that they can be seen all the better on the running track! THRASS Information Night A reminder to parents that Erin Norman will be running a THRASS Information night for all parents next Tuesday 24 th April at 6:30pm in the Library. There will be teacher representatives present from all levels of the school. FOUNDATION INFORMATION NIGHT This information night is on Monday, 14 th May and is directed to our new families to Kalinda for 2019. If you know of any family who would be interested in attending, please pass this information on to them. OPEN NIGHT We welcome our whole school community to come and see what your children are doing at school. There will be some performances and activities throughout the evening but really we just want you to enjoy what the children are doing at school. This year, our Open Night is on Wednesday, 23 rd May from 5:00 7:30pm. GAIL POLLARD PRINCIPAL

Congratulations Kalinda Primary School Families and Friends! You have finished the race to collect Sports for Schools vouchers for 2018. The collecting is done, and now it’s time to return any vouchers you may still have. These vouchers must be returned by Friday, 27th April. Please continue to follow the request from our wonderful parents who have spent hours counting and bundling the thousands of vouchers. Please count and staple or place an elastic band around your vouchers, and write the total number of vouchers in your bundle on the front (as per the picture), before depositing them into the drop box. By collecting vouchers from Coles, you have supported our school to earn lots of brand new sports equipment for our students. Thank you very much. Jessica Swingler Phys Ed Teacher
