May Memory Verses

Ephesians 6:10-18 10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. 11 Put on the

whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the dev-

il.12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against

the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the

spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.13 Therefore take up the whole armor

of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to

stand firm. 14 Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put

on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the

readiness given by the gospel of peace. 16 In all circumstances take up the shield of

faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; 17 and

take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of

God,18 praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that

end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,

Bike Roadeo Due to the difficulties involved with having a Bike Roadeo at the Trochu Campus, we have decid-ed to cancel again this year. We encourage all parents to take time to review bike/road safety with your kids. Here is a link to a website that you can check out regarding bike safety:

http://bikesafety.caa.ca/cyclists/index.php At this site you will find a quiz that you can take with your child as well as a road test that is de-signed to ensure your child understands the basics of riding a bike safely. By going through the quiz with your child and administering the road test, you can have peace of mind knowing that your child understands how to ride safely on the road. There is even a certificate you can print off for successful completion of the test.

Junk/Treasure Sale Dear PCA Elementary Parents:

You’ve heard it said that ‘one man’s junk is another man’s treasure.’ Well,

let me change that quote a bit and say, ‘one kid’s junk is another kid’s treasure’ So

let’s assume that your child has some good junk lying around the house collecting

dust or getting in the way – better known as clutter. We have a plan for that junk . .

.er . . . treasure. If it can fit into an IGA bag, why not donate it to our school junk . . .er . . . treasure

sale? Once we receive your child’s donated junk, we will sort it and place it on tables in the gym. On

Thursday, May 19th at noon hour, we’ll conduct a garage sale where your child can purchase some new

items that will eventually clutter your house. . . but all for a good cause. What is that cause? Proceeds from

the Junk/Treasure Sale will go towards the support of First Steps. It provides soymilk for needy North Kore-

an children.

So take your child, and an IGA bag and see what items you can donate to our junk sale. (stuffed ani-

mals really sell well, so bring lots of those) Send whatever you please and our professional sorters (Grade 6)

will sort and categorize all the items.

Finally, if your child is to purchase some new treasure, they’ll need some cash. A couple toonies will

buy them lots of goodies and if they want to donate towards a good cause, the Lord will surely bless them for

their generosity.

If you want to show up at school and purchase the many bargains, feel free to join us.

Capitalistically yours,

Mr. A.

P.S. Please bring all items to your teacher who will pass them on to Mr. A.

What a wonderful day April 26th, Grandparents’ Day, was for students and

staff at PCA Elementary. We were blessed. Thanks to the grandparents who

joined us for this special day.

I’m sure the Grandparents had their reward by the enthusiastic response you received from

your young friends. We as a staff also want to say a big thank you for attending.

Thank You, Grandparents

Check out the progress on PCA's Mod-ernization Project. Go to www.youtube.com and type 'PCA Modernization' in the search box. The Fundraising Committee for the project recently met at the site of PCA's new building for a tour. The pro-ject is on schedule and classes for K-12 will begin this Fall at the new site. This is literally a vision coming true for PCA families and is very exciting! The reno-vated building is beautiful, with staff and students anxious to move in. The Fundraising Committee in encouraged

to have $450,000 donated so far. However the September 1, 2016 deadline is quickly approaching for the PCA Society to have the first $1,000,000, which is committed to paying Golden Hills School Divi-sion for the chapel, 800 square meter gym and two additional classrooms so that every grade has it's own classroom. These important pieces would not have happened without the parent leadership of PCA stepping out in faith with this vision. Please, all PHS/PCA alumni, parents, staff and students: have a look at the school web-site at www.pca3hills.ca, and click on "Grow the Vision". Learn what the needs are....then pray....then tell everyone you know who might be interested in giving....give if you can. Every dollar counts. The com-mittee needs everyone's help to raise the remaining funds by the time the keys are handed over to PCA. Remember, all donations for this project are tax receiptable.

Lego Fair

What: Lego Fair

Who: Students in Kindergarten to Grade 6.

Where: PCA Elementary

When: May 5, 2016

PCA Elementary is having a Lego Fair. Listed below are the criteria:

You may do it by yourself or with a partner.

Your creation will be brought to school completed; it will not be done at school.

It must be your own creation – you are not allowed to create it using a set of instructions.

The Fair will be set up in the mini gym on the morning of that day and students will be able to view the pro-

jects at recesses.

There will be competition involved. Grades 1 and 2 will compete against each other, grades 3 and 4 will be

another group and Grades 5 and 6 will compete against each other. Kindergarten will be in a group by them-

selves. If by any chance a child in a younger grade and one in a higher grade choose to team up together, the

creation will be entered in the higher grade category.

Each entry must indicate which category, listed below, that their project is being entered in and a write-up

must accompany it describing how it fits the category entered. Example: If you are entering the “movable

part” category then you must indicate what the movable parts are and what their purpose is. The explanation

must be written on the template provided unless you are typing out your explanation. It must be printed or

written in your very neatest printing or handwriting or it may also be typed. It must contain lots of detail

and be interesting for the reader to read. A parent may scribe the explanation but it must be very evident

that the explanation came from the students, themselves.

Certificates will be given for the following in each grade grouping:

Most original creation

Has the most detail

Theme: it tells a story – must have a title

Has moveable parts

Parents please do not help your child create this project or write the explanation. You may scribe for

them but you must put down what your child tells you and only what your child tells you. We want it

to be completely constructed and explained by the students, themselves.
