The Year 8 Reflection Day

The Year 8 Reflection Day was held on the 22nd of June at theRegents Park Campus. Mr Ronchetti and Ms Sarkis plannedthe Reflection day and all of Year 8 were really engaged. Thetheme was “Fourviere and Courage” and it had many activitiesthat were fun and very meaningful to us as a community. Alongwith Mr Ronchetti and Ms Sarkis, we had help from our Year 11

REMAR students who lead us through the activities throughoutthat day.

At the beginning of that day, we went to the hall and MrRonchetti was talking about Fourviere and what it meant tohim. Sister Cecilia Joseph then led a Lectio Divina on Matthew14:22-33. We reflected on this passage, which helped deepenour faith. We then had a guest come and tell us his life storyand how he showed courage during his life, his name was BenSaliba. He pointed out something that really touched my heart. It was the story of him when he went to the Philippines when hewent to a school and helped. This really touched me becausehe had the courage to go there and serve others who were lessfortunate.

Once we finished lunch, we went to our allocated classroomfor our group activity, which was led by our REMAR students. We were doing work with our group, which was related toout theme “Fourviere and Courage”. We stayed in our groupsfor the 2 hour period doing my favourite part, which was the“5 minute Fourviere Challenge”. This consisted of us doingactivities to earn points for our team and the team with the mostpoints won a prize. After that amazing challenge we were allhungry, so we had a sausage sizzle lunch, which was amazing.

We ended the day with a Liturgy, that told us how we coulddisplay courage in our day-to-day lives. With that Mr Ronchettigave us all a paper, which told us how to pray deeply to Godwith 5 steps. Overall the day was so amazing and intriguing andI know that I will never forget it.
