On the 26th , a Special Assembly was held for Grade 12. The Senior students shared their experiences while thanking the Honorable Principal and Vice Principal for their contunuing support. They also thanked the Teachers who assisted them in their classes and subjects and ended it with a sweet note reminding other students to value their school life and the teachers.

The Seniors of DPS STS School Dhaka assembled for the last time and took their batch photo on the 26th with Honorable Principal and Vice Principal. This commemorates the time spent at DPS STS School and will help them remember each of the cherished moments they spent at this esteemed institution.

Gr.5 – 7: (SUPW) House Board Competition on Bangla Noboborsho from the 10th to 13th From 10 to 13th April 2016, Students of Grades 5-7 did House wise board competition as the part of Socially Useful Productive Work (SUPW) and the topic was “Bangla Noboborsho". The positions are:

English Essay Competition 2016 was held on the 17th for Grades 1 to 8 students. Students were given assigned topics to write on and Teachers from different grades selected and marked. Based on the accumulated marks, the results are given below.

The Pre primary section of DPS STS School also welcomed the Bengali New Year with full festivity. The whole Pre Primary area, the classrooms and soft boards were decorated with banners and craftwork done by both students and teachers. Pre- KG and KG presented their scheduled programme and three students of KG conducted the event very nicely. The celebration started off with colourful Mongol ShobhaJatra by selected children of Pre-KG and KG and the parade was eye catching indeed! The Baishakhi Abohoni dance was performed by the Dance troupe of KG, followed by the Bengali song EktaraBajaio Na by choir of Pre KG. The song Ektara Dotara Bashir Shure and Tagore’s short play –JutaAbishkar were performed by choir of KG and Drama Troupe of KG respectively. To wrap up the show, the choir of PreKG and KG sang the Boishakhi Anthem Esho he Boishahk. All the children wore colourful traditional attires with accessories and props. The event was well planned and aptly executed! This time the dispersal of the children took place from the 4th floor. Then the parents accompanied by their children visited the designated classrooms on the ground floor where a Boishakhi display and fair was arranged by the teachers. The traditional Bangladeshi musical instruments, crafts, masks, food and sweet items, nakshikantha, sareesetc were displayed and pottery items painted by the students were for sale. All the hard work paid off in the end as the day was thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated by both the children and their parents!

On the 20th, Students of Grades 5-9 celebrated the Bangla Noboborsho 1423. They talked about the importance of the Bangla New Year and also gave a fantastic show with dancing singing and an exclusive fashion show. Everyone enjoyed it immensely and students left feeling accomplished and delighted. Afterwards, students organized a fair where they participated and sold handicrafts.

DPS STS School, Dhaka organized a splendid Annual Exhibition with the creative display of its students’ outstanding subject wise artistic work. This year, it was held on the 2nd and 3rd on Saturday and Sunday respectively in its own campus in Uttara. Students from Grades 1 to 9 participated in the Exhibition. The students’ stupendous innovative ideas astounded the parents and the other visitors. The English Department had projects of The Jungle and The Wizard of Oz, innovative presentation of Idioms, Homophones, Synonyms, Antonyms, Similes along where some other students dressed and exhibited famous writers and characters of various fairy tales. The projection of Star Wars and the exhibition of The Dark House and Sherlock’s intensive Investigation grabbed the attention of all visitors. They always had a long queue of students trying to have a second glimpse. Bangla Department’s theme was to project a reverine Bangladesh. They exhibited the variety of Boats of Bangladesh and the different lifestyles of riverside people. They also exhibited the traditional Bangladeshi fair, the rural and urban life in Bangladesh, National Monuments and the transportation system of the country. Math Department had projects of shapes, different techniques of multiplication, Fraction World, Geometrical Furniture, Home Decors, String Art, Book Fold Art and problem solving games. The special attraction of the department was the most watched motivational 3D Puppet Show. S.St Department put up wonderful projects of Solar System, Volcanic Eruption, etc. when the little scientists had many informative projects for the visitors. Computer Science Department had students rushing to the labs to play the games developed by their peers. Their 3D Hologram display, home-made multimedia projector and the innovative idea of traffic system controlling were undoubtedly praiseworthy. Ultra Violet Dance Show, Tesla Coil Experiments, Musical Fire Dance Show, Robotics Display of the Physics Department snatched the attention of hundreds of visitors. The Chemistry projects had audiences rushing to watch their Glowing Water Show, Magic Mud, Lava Lamp, Rainbow Flame, Elephant Paste and the Ultra Violet Show of different chemical experiments. The students had a practical banking experience entering the project work of the Business Department. The Music, Art and Dance Departments had lively flash mobs and a solo performance of the students. The sports teachers had a lot of games competitions that kept the visitors busy trying to win their matches. Overall, it was a magnificent event for the visiting parents and guests who were very quite pleased to see the pioneering ideas displayed in scintillating projects.

The ITHS (International Turkish Hope School) Inter School Badminton Tournament-2016 was held from 07th to 09th at ITHS School, Dhaka. Eight schools including DPS STS from Dhaka Region participated in the Tournament. DPS STS School Badminton Team comprising 25 students took part in the Tournament under different categories and brought laurel to the School. In Double Format (Boys), Zuhayer Rahman (Grade-5) and Raiyan Bin Reza (Grade-5) and in Double Format (Girls), Adiba T Rahman (Grade-5) and Nazia Maisha (Grade-5) were declared runners up. Mahibur Rahman(Grade-5) got 3rd position in Singles (Boys).

Out of 8 Schools which participated in th tournament, DPS STS School won the 4th position. The Best Bowler was awarded to Samsad Murtaza of Grade 8C who had managed to slice down wickets with simultaneous deliveries in line and length and the Best Batsman in whole tournament was Mahmudul Hasan Masum from Grade 12. Masum’s relentless batting and boundaries executed a sea of silence among the opponent teams’ supporters and left them spellbound as the sixes kept raining.

DPS Boys Basketball team became 4th out of 10 teams participating from Dhaka Region. Two students of DPS STS School received the all star award for their mesmerizing performance

throughout the tournament. Afnan Mamun (12) and Sakib Sadman(12) received applaud and praise while other players received crests on their dynamic performance.

STS Group Cricket Team has won the first cricket match played against Partex Star Group by a huge margin in

Indoor Corporate Cricket Tournament. The Captain of STS team Mr. Neaz Morshed Nahid (from DPS STS School)

was declared Man of the Match for his splendid and fierce bowling spell. CEO Mr. Parvez, Principal, Mr. Harsh

Wal and Vice Principal Mrs. Madhu Wal attended. All these matches are live telecasted on GTV.

The Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL), Switzerland which offers Bachelors in International Hospitality Management visited DPS STS School Dhaka. Students from Grades 9-12 attended the program. The Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL), established in 1893, was the first hotel school in the world. Today, it trains and develops the next generation of leaders and managers for the international hospitality industry and its diverse student body comprises 2400 students from more than 90 different nationalities. The Bachelor programme is for candidates beginning their university studies who aim for higher management positions in the international hospitality industry. It consists of a preparatory year which teaches the fundamentals of hospitality through both theory and practical classes followed by three academic years.

Students of Grade 7 participated in a Presentation on Environmental Management on the 27th

A presentation on Cricket Programme (07th July – 21st July 2016) for England was held in the IT Lab -302 of the School from 10:45 am to 11:45 am on 07th April 2016 by Mr Mohammed Ali, Recruitment Manager, South Asia, Academic Studies. Mr Ishtiaque Ahmad,Sr Executive Vice President, NCC Bank and Mr Khaled M Al Faruq (Business Development Manager, Education Excellence) also shared their views on some related areas of the Presentation. Around 34 students from Grade 4 to 7 and a couple of parents

attended the Presentation. All related issues like accommodation, location, security, visa fee, airfare etc including the entire cost of the Programme were discussed in detail. All queries from parents and students were nicely answered by Mr Mohammed Ali and Mr Ishtiaque Ahmad. Students were highly excited after interacting with the officials. It was really a wonderful and fruitful presentation.

DPS STS School arranged an “Origami Session” for the children with Mr.Ajay on 24th April 2016 in DPS School Auditorium. Mr.Ajay taught them how to make beautiful candle stands,roses,dolls,trees etc. and the children enjoyed the session a lot. We hope that these little angels will decorate their classrooms with this colourful Origami very soon.

International Centre New Delhi-UDAYAN-Together For A Better Tomorrow. Principals and Heads of all Delhi Public Schools

in India and overseas attended the Conference. It was perhaps for the first time that all the Heads of all DPS Schools had

got together. Matters related to quality Education and other administrative and educational issues were discussed.

Principal and Vice Principal also attended a Management Committee Meeting at the DPS Society office. The Meeting was

Chaired by the Chairperson of Managing Committee of DPS STS School Dhaka Prof. B.P. Khandelwal & attended by Mr.

Pramod Grover-Vice Chairperson, Mr. Parvez Saiful Islam- Member & CEO of STS, Mr. Md. Giash Uddin- Member & CFO of

STS, Mr. Harsh Wal- Principal & Ex-officio Member Secretary of The Managing Committee, Mr. R Taneja- Secretary DPS

Society & Mrs. Madhu Wal- Vice Principal of DPS STS School Dhaka.

Oindrila Pal, from Grade 3 was awarded the 1st Runner up at the competition of Aloha Abacus & Mental Arithmetic at 9th National level competition 2016. Competition was among more than 8000 students from all over Bangladesh.

Arneesha Affaan Chaklader, from Grade I was awarded 2nd Runner-up at the competition of Aloha Abacus & Mental Arithmetic at 9th National level competition 2016.
