DESCRIPTION

By: Devorah Klein for HamodiaThe Spero family immigrated from Zmigrod, Galicia to America in 1884, just shy of 19 years since the end of the Civil War, to Cleveland, OH. They were builders of the Cleveland Jewish community and American Jewry at large. When other families were assimilating they were building and bolstering Jewish life. Their family continues to build and contribute to Jewish life even today in Cleveland, Chicago, Baltimore, and Israel.
