Queridos Hermanos y Hermanas,

Después de escuchar lo que el Evangelio Mateo nos dice hoy, muchos nos preguntamos por qué la semilla da buenos frutos en unos y en otros da malos o no da ninguno. Esto es porque la semilla se desarrolla donde hay esperanza y humildad. Si la semilla no echa raíces, la culpa no es de la semilla, ni del sembrador. La culpa es del terreno donde se sembró. Los cristianos tenemos necesidad de pedir a Dios fortaleza para convertirnos en buen terreno preparado para recibir la semilla de su Palabra. Lo que Dios espera de nosotros es, no solamente que escuchemos la Palabra, sino que también le leamos. La Iglesia nos aconseja que cojamos la Biblia cada día y la leamos por lo menos un cuarto de hora. Si hacemos esto nos será más fácil dejar nuestra vida de pecado y todo lo que no deja crecer la buena semilla que el Divino Sembrado esparció. Para ello necesitamos leer la Palabra, escucharla y seguir las enseñanzas que Cristo nos enseñó. Cada domingo escuchamos en la Santa Misa la Palabra de Dios. Pero debemos preguntarnos: ¿La escuchamos con atención sabiendo que por ella conoceremos más a Dios? ¿Cómo la asimilamos? ¿Pensamos en ella durante el día o, nada más terminar la Misa, no nos recordamos de qué trataba? ¿Si alguien nos preguntara al salir de Misa, de qué trataban las lecturas y sobre qué se habló en el sermón, podríamos contestarle? Si no es así es que la semilla de la Palabra de Dios cayó entre las espinas y no podrá crecer. Si no dejamos entrar la Palabra de Dios en nuestras mentes y en nuestros corazones corremos el riesgo de dejar que el Maligno ahogue la semilla. Tengamos en cuenta que es Dios el que esparce la semilla de su Palabra. Y es para todos. Si encuentra en nosotros buena tierra, germinará y dará fruto, haciéndonos ver que todo lo que nos ofrece el Maligno es engaño y mentiras. Todos hemos recibido la gracia para recibir bien la semilla. Si en nosotros se marchita y muere, no es culpa del sembrador, ni de la semilla, sino de cómo la recibimos. Pongamos la esperanza en Dios porque el nunca defrauda. ¡Tengan una bonita semana!

Dear Sisters and brothers, After listening what Matthew says in the Gospel today, many of us ask ourselves why the seed gives good fruit in some and in others bad fruit or none. This is because the seed grows where there is hope and humility. If the seed does not take root, it is not the fault of the seed or of the sower. The

fault lies in the earth in which it was sown. We Christians need to ask God for strength to prepare ourselves to be the good earth that is ready to receive the seed of the Word. What God expects of us is not only that we listen to the Word but that we also read it. The Church recommends that we take the Bible in hand every day and that we read it for at least a quarter of an

hour. If we do this it will be easier for us to leave behind our life of sin and all that does not allow us to grow the good seed that the Divine Sower has sown. For this to occur we must read the Word, listen to it and follow the teachings that Christ taught us. Each Sunday we hear the Word of God in the Holy Mass. But we should ask ourselves: Do we listen attentively knowing that through it we will come to know God better? How do we assimilate it? Do we think of it during the day or as soon as Mass ends to we forget everything that it included? If someone were to ask us when we leave Mass what the Readings were all about and what was talked about in the sermon, could we answer? If we cannot the seed of the Word of God fell among the thorns and could not grow. If we do not let the Word of God enter our minds and into our hearts, we run the risk of allowing the Evil one to choke the seed. Let us consider that God is the one who spreads the seed of His Word. And it is meant to be for all of us. If it encounters in us good earth, it takes root and gives fruit, making us see that all that the Evil One offers us is delusion and lies. We have all received the grace to make us able to receive the seed. If when it is in us it dries up and dies, it is not the fault of the sower, nor is it the fault of the seed, it is caused by the way were receive it. Let us place our hope in God, who never deceives. LAS PALABRAS DE DIOS Cada día somos bombardeados por miles de palabras. Desde el momento en que suena el despertador en la mañana, hasta el último momento del día cuando apagamos el televisor o alguien nos dice “buenas noches’, tenemos la vida llena de palabras. Algunas palabras nos traen noticias que nos deprimen. Algunas palabras nos levantan el espíritu. Muchas de las palabras que escuchamos tratan de hacernos comprar algo. Algunas palabras son hirientes. Hoy la Iglesia nos hace prestar atención a la Palabras de Dios. ¿Son las Palabras de Dios igual que las demás –parte de una corriente sin fin de palabras que fluyen por nuestro oídos todos los días? El reto hoy es permitir que las Palabras de Dios nos inspiren renovando nuestra perspectiva y actitudes para que estén en mayor consonancia con el corazón y la mente de Cristo Jesús. Copyright © J. SAN ENRIQUE (972-1024) 13 de julio Enrique nació en Alemania y desde pequeño fue educado por el obispo Wolfango, quien le ayudó a abrir su conciencia respecto a los pobres y a las necesidades de otros pueblos. Años después se casó con Cunegunda de Luxemburgo, pero debido a una enfermedad renal, nunca pudieron tener hijos. A los 34 años fue nombrado rey de Alemania y como tal fue ejemplar en el cuidado de los pobres y la lucha contra la opresión, así como la construcción y renovación de los monasterios en Alemania. Su caridad fue tan grande que su cuñado, molesto porque daba todo a los pobres, organizó un golpe militar, pero fue sometido por el rey, quien les perdonó la ofensa. En el año 1014 fue coronado Emperador del Sacro Imperio Romano Germánico (Alemania, Austria, Suiza, Bélgica, Holanda y el Norte de Italia), pues tenía el cariño de la gente y la confianza del Papa. INFORMACION DE LA PARROQUIA: Finalmente la Diócesis nos ha dado permiso de reabrir nuevamente la Iglesia, a partir del 1o. de Julio. Las misas de Lunes a viernes serán a las 8:00am y los fines de semana: Sábado 7:00pm; Domingo 7:00am, 9:00am (Ingles), 11:00am y 1:00pm. Pondremos los protocolos que deberemos seguir en el boletín, en el web y en Facebook. Pedimos su paciencia, cooperación y compresión con las nuevas medidas, yo entiendo que estos meses han sido muy difíciles para todos. Seguiremos transmitiendo la Misa en español los domingos a las 11:00am. El numero de personas que podrán estar en la Iglesia es de 100 personas incluido el equipo que ayudará durante la celebración. Debemos usar cubre bocas. Habrá personas dirigiendo la entrada y la salida a la Iglesia. Pronto daremos información sobre las Primeras Comuniones.

TRADICIONES DE NUESTRA FE Desde el Concilio Vaticano II la Iglesia, como Pueblo de Dios, ha tomado la imagen de una peregrinación para definir su presencia en este mundo. Para los hispanos la peregrinación más antigua es la de Santiago de Compostela en España cuya fiesta celebramos esta semana. Según la tradición, Santiago Apóstol evangelizó España y después de su muerte su cadáver fue llevado a Galicia por acontecimientos milagrosos. En el siglo VII señales de estrellas llevaron al descubrimiento del lugar de su entierro y se construyó un santuario con el nombre de Campo de Estrellas. Eventualmente, a finales del primer milenio cristiano, empezaron las famosas peregrinaciones a Santiago. Después de muchos siglos la mejor manera de llegar a Santiago todavía es a pie. Recorrer el camino de Santiago es caminar sobre las huellas de innumera-bles peregrinos que durante más de mil años han ido trazando el sendero. GOD’S WORDS Each day we are bombarded with thousands of words. From the moment our clock radios click on in the morning, until the last moment of the day when the television is turned off or someone bids us “good-night,” our life is filled with words. Some words that we hear bring news that leaves us feeling low. Some words lift our spirits. Many of the words we hear are trying to get us to buy something. Some words are hurtful. Today the Church focuses our attention on hearing the word of God. Are God’s words just more of the same—part of the endless stream of words that flow into our ears each day? The challenge today is to allow God’s word to inspire us in new ways so that our outlook and attitudes align themselves more closely with the heart and mind of Christ Jesus. Copyright © J. S. CHURCH UPDATES:

The Diocese has given us permission to reopen the Church, beginning July 1. Daily masses, Monday through Friday, will be at 8:00am and on weekends: Saturday 7:00pm; Sunday 7:00am, 9:00am (English), 11:00am and 1:00pm. There are a number of protocols that we will have to follow, we will publish them in the bulletin, in the web and on Facebook. We ask for your patience, cooperation and understanding with these new measures, I understand that these months have been very difficult for everyone. We will continue to livestream mass in Spanish on Sundays at 11:00am. The number of people who will be able to be in the Church is 100 including the team that will help during the celebration. We must wear masks. At all times. There will be people who will be at the entrance and exit doors. We ask that you please cooperate with them. We'll be giving information about the First Communions very soon.

SAINT KATERI TEKAKWITHA (1656-1680) July 14 Though the New York State Thruway runs close by the North American Martyrs’ Shrine, traffic’s roar never pierces the peace enveloping Auriesville—Ossernon to Native Americans—in the lovely Mohawk Valley, where Kateri Tekakwitha was born barely ten years after the martyrdom of Isaac Jogues and his Jesuit and lay companions. Daughter of a Christian Algonquin mother and non-Christian Mohawk chief, Kateri’s parents died in a smallpox epidemic widely blamed on the missionaries. Moreover, many Native Americans had experienced exploitation at the hands of “Christian” traders and trappers, further discrediting the faith Kateri embraced in baptism, then pledged to live even more intensely in vowed virginity. Misunderstanding led to harassment, prompting her move to a Christian village farther north along the Saint Lawrence River. Despite this, Kateri’s faith remained undaunted, her selfless charity undiminished. Both before and after her death at twenty-four, this young “Lily of the Mohawks” drew countless converts to Christ by the fragrance of her goodness. TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION Does the scene of the disciples being sent out two by two bring to mind any other scripture? After the flood, Noah opens the door of the ark and sends his passengers out to renew the face of the earth. Certainly, Jesus has the same purpose. The purpose is fulfilled in your communion in the Body of Christ today, and in your being sent from the Eucharist into the world. The sending is so important that our word “Mass” derives from it. In Latin, the last words of worship are Ite, missa est, which means “Go, you are sent.” From that, people began to call Catholic worship the missa, or in English, the “Mass.” Our English words dismissal, missal, emissary, and mission are all related. We are not sent into the workaday world alone, but in relationship to one another. Some people have acquired the unhappy habit of leaving worship as soon as they receive Communion and therefore miss the prayer, the dismissal, and the solemn blessing that are essential parts of the Mass.
