Dear CT Officials, both elected and appointed, and fellow friends of Marjorie and Dorothy - The fact that this injustice is being carried out in our great country, at this point with the full and extensive knowledge of our local and elected officials, our government agencies, and our court system, all of whom are sworn t o protect us against this kind of t orture and abuse, is reprehensible. We punish and jail our troops overseas for treating prisoners of war in this manner, yet when an innocent elderly member of our society who needs decent health care is instead kept prisoner in a nursing home by a misguided court and a corrupt conservator appointed against the patient’s legal wishes, we look the other way and say “let the courts handle it”? This is a situation that needs immediate attention, investigation and rectification. A person’s life is at stake, and our courts are apparently too backed up to deal with this situation in a timely manner. Where is the due process? Where is the right to a speedy trial and solution? What is happening to the very systems that ar e put into place to protect against this ever happening to an innocent, law-abiding citizen of our state and nation? I cannot believe for one moment that the only solution here is to allow the court system to process this case on its own sweet time. The court does not care that a human being is sufferi ng needlessly. If it did, this would have been handled by now. Is there nobody that can step in? Are our elected of ficials powerless? Does our state attorney general’s office have no authority to step in and at least launch an investigation that would spur some action? I have known Marjorie for only a few years longer than this incident has been going on. I know her well enough to know that her mother is her life, and that her mother’s care is of paramount importance to her. She did the r ight thing by sending her mother to a proper facilit y to recover from a stroke. She and her mother are now paying the price for doing the right thing because the system that was supposed to protect them instead f ailed them. In turn, it has failed all of us. Who’s to say which of us is next? If this was a Senator’s mother, would ther e be any doubt this would have been rectified long ago? Would that have had to work its way through the court system as well? Or would someone have done thproper thing and stepped in before it went to far? One should not have to be in, or know someone in, a position of power and influence in order to do what is right and what is just in a timely manner. I beg our elected officials, our state attorney general’s office, and anyone else reading this and Marjorie’s other emails to do the right thing, step in and make this right. Dorothy Partch should not have to suffer needlessly a single day longer. We should not allow it to happen. As citizens, as human beings, and for those to whom it applies, as people sworn to uphold and defend our state and national laws and constitution that should have been followed to prevent this terrible injustice from happening in the first place. I am a firm bel iever, perhaps naively, that a single person can make a dif ference. Please prove me right. Anyone reading this email who is i n a position to do something about this now, prove me right

Dear CT Officials, both elected and appointed, and fellow friends of Marjorie and Dorothy -

The fact that this injustice is being carried out in our great country, at this point with the full and

extensive knowledge of our local and elected officials, our government agencies, and our court system,

all of whom are sworn to protect us against this kind of torture and abuse, is reprehensible. We punish

and jail our troops overseas for treating prisoners of war in this manner, yet when an innocent elderly

member of our society who needs decent health care is instead kept prisoner in a nursing home by a

misguided court and a corrupt conservator appointed against the patient’s legal wishes, we look the

other way and say “let the courts handle it”? This is a situation that needs immediate attention,

investigation and rectification. A person’s life is at stake, and our courts are apparently too backed up

to deal with this situation in a timely manner. Where is the due process? Where is the right to a speedy

trial and solution? What is happening to the very systems that are put into place to protect against this

ever happening to an innocent, law-abiding citizen of our state and nation?

I cannot believe for one moment that the only solution here is to allow the court system to process this

case on its own sweet time. The court does not care that a human being is suffering needlessly. If it

did, this would have been handled by now. Is there nobody that can step in? Are our elected officials

powerless? Does our state attorney general’s office have no authority to step in and at least launch an

investigation that would spur some action?

I have known Marjorie for only a few years longer than this incident has been going on. I know her

well enough to know that her mother is her life, and that her mother’s care is of paramount importance

to her. She did the right thing by sending her mother to a proper facility to recover from a stroke. She

and her mother are now paying the price for doing the right thing because the system that was supposedto protect them instead failed them. In turn, it has failed all of us. Who’s to say which of us is next? If

this was a Senator’s mother, would there be any doubt this would have been rectified long ago? Would

that have had to work its way through the court system as well? Or would someone have done thproper

thing and stepped in before it went to far? One should not have to be in, or know someone in, a

position of power and influence in order to do what is right and what is just in a timely manner.

I beg our elected officials, our state attorney general’s office, and anyone else reading this and

Marjorie’s other emails to do the right thing, step in and make this right. Dorothy Partch should not

have to suffer needlessly a single day longer. We should not allow it to happen. As citizens, as humanbeings, and for those to whom it applies, as people sworn to uphold and defend our state and national

laws and constitution that should have been followed to prevent this terrible injustice from happening

in the first place.

I am a firm believer, perhaps naively, that a single person can make a difference. Please prove me

right. Anyone reading this email who is in a position to do something about this now, prove me right

by having this email, and Marjories numerous emails, make a difference. Do the right thing by

Dorothy and get her home to her loving daughter so she can spend her days in happier comfort.

Anyone reading this email as an everyday citizen, let your voice be heard as well. Tell people that we

are paying attention and we want this fixed, for Marjorie, for Dorothy, and for the countless others who

have suffered similarly at the hands of Wilton Meadows and other similar facilities in our state and

across our country. This happens more often than we think, and more often than it should. It needs to

stop. Now.

Sincerely,

Joe Gonzalez
