Order of Worship
The Jackson Parker February 26, 2012
Thank you for being here today. It
is our hope that your presence here
will be a blessing to you and that your
presence will be a blessing to someone
else. The fellowship that we enjoy in
our spiritual family is something that is very meaningful to us and all of us
should benefit from it. Today I look
forward to hearing the message that
will be a continuation of the theme
that we began last Sunday by focusing
on Faith in our Families and seeking
truth together in our family units. We
all want to seek truth and to be
strengthened in our relationship to the
Lord and to each other as we go from
day to day.
We have had a number of families
in our fellowship who have experi-
enced loss of a loved one or serious illness in the last few weeks. I hope
that we continue to pray for each of
these people by name and that our
faith can be strengthened as we grow
spiritually. It is really important that
we know and understand that there is
truth to be known and experienced in
our everyday lives.
Last Sunday saw as a part of our
assembly the recognition of five new
deacons. These men and their families
should also be a part of our prayers on
an ongoing basis. Steve Abell, Jamie
King, Danny Ray Martin, Greg Poteete, and Allan Welch have all been a part
of this congregation and we will be
blessed by their work and service to
the congregation and the community.
It was also good to see that Chad
Daniels has been asked to serve and
that he will also be added to the num-
ber of deacons in a few days. These
men are of different ages and places in
their lives with their families. They are
all men who have shown a love for the
Lord and for His church as well as for
their families and others. It is our
hope that they can continue to be ex-
amples of faith in their workplaces
and communities where they live. As
was pointed out Sunday night they are
men who have shown the characteris-
tics of the deacons as pointed out in I
Timothy 3:8-13 and as such they are examples to the community of what a
Christ follower is like. Jackson Park
has been blessed through the years
with many men who have served as
elders and deacons during the 80 year
history of the church. The deacons
who have been serving and these new
men who will be serving with them will
continue that great work that has
been done through the years. We
should all bear in mine that the pur-
pose for which we are here is to glorify
God in all that we do and say. As Paul
wrote to the Ephesians in 3:20-21 “Now to him who is able to do far more
abundantly than all that we ask or
think, according to the power at work
within us, to him be glory in the
church and in Christ Jesus through-
out all generations, forever and ever.
Amen.”
I hope that you have noticed the
new paint job in the auditorium that
has been completed by Rex Jackson.
He is an excellent worker and enjoys
the work that he does in painting on
his days off from the fire department.
Thank you Rex for the work you did and for making our place of assembly
neater and cleaner looking.
Thank you to all of the congrega-
tion for your encouragement and sup-
port. It should be noted that during
the month of January we were
$357.00 a week below our budget in
contributions. We cannot continue our
present program of work if we do not
meet the budget. Please give this you
prayerful attention.

Regarding Our Members
Call 228-3000
Today we venture further toward the topic of truth for an emphasis over the next several weeks. I want to ask something of each member that I think is incredibly important to this topic. I would like for everyone to approach this subject with as much soberness of mind as possible. Often times when classes or discussions are had on the concept of, let’s say, the truth of Scripture or something similar, individuals have a tendency to tune out or disengage. Church folk are notorious at times of thinking that “this” or “that” is pretty much a done deal in terms of what can be known. The reality might be that very little is actually known in regards to the sheer truth of what the Bible actually says. I find that many people in church circles are commonly more inclined to believe something as truth based more so on influences such as up-bringing, traditions, rituals, and even political & societal voices. I’m not assuming that truth cannot coincide with those influ-ences, but I am asserting that from my experience such is less often the case.
What if what you believe isn’t the truth at all? What if the lens through which you view things has horribly been out of focus all of your life? What would that feel or look like? The answer is nothing. Unless convicting evidences reveal to you otherwise, you’re simply not going to ever have the slight-est inclination that there’s anything untruthful concerning
what you believe and/or profess. Everyone pretty much thinks they’re right about almost everything—everyone. How many people do you know that walk around conscientiously declar-ing that they are wrong about a lot of things but yet they do not care and have no intent to change? I don’t know that many people like that either. When the incarnate Jesus came on the scene in the first century world, he encountered a whole lot of people that didn’t have the slightest idea about what truth was. He met some who thought they did, some who admitted that they didn’t, and even encountered many more that simply didn’t care. Interesting that after 2000 something years… the same scene is still played out. We begin this morning with an essential starting point: a feverish desire to know truth. That’s where I think it starts.
Thank you for your presence this morning. Parents are reminded of the devotional tonight at the home of Taylor, Doug, and Amy Downey. The vans will leave at 5:30pm. See me with any questions.

Shepherd’s Message... Several weeks ago a little girl named Jessica was
sitting with us during the worship service. Before the
service began, she looked up and said she liked "this
church" because the people were nice. Of course, I
had to agree with her. Then she asked me if the Bible
in my lap was mine and I told her it was. Her next
question was one that should give all of us something
to think about. She asked, "Do you read it every-
day?" It is always amazing to me how children can get
to the heart of a matter in a direct way. This is
a question that could potentially be the source of
some embarrassment. How would you have an-
swered? At the beginning of the year we try to en-
courage daily Bible reading by providing schedules to
help accomplish this goal. However, if you would pre-
fer, you could set your own schedule and read at
your own pace. If you have not done so, it is not too
late to begin. Oh, by the way, thankfully I was able
to answer "yes" to Jessica's question.
"Your word is a lamp to my feet and light to my path."

Bible Trivia… God told Jeremiah to hide the sash in a rock at what place that was a symbol of captivity and
exile to His people?
Answer to last week’s question –
What phrase does Jeremiah use repeatedly to describe Israel’s disobedient behavior? – “Everyone walked in the
imagination of his evil heart.” (Jeremiah 7:24; 11:8)
