Program OverviewDo you want to see Italy and Greece and earn 6 credit hours to help you in your future career?This study abroad can help your physical therapy, occupational therapy, or medical school application stand out from the rest, as studying healthy lifestyles in another country is such a unique experience! You will be studying lifestyles in Sardinia, Italy and Ikaria, Greece where many live to be happy and healthy into their 100s. You will visit a winery, a hospital, and shadow a physical therapist. You will also immerse yourself into the lifestyle by enjoying local hot springs, beaches, and a Greek festival.A $500 deposit with the application is all that is required to hold your spot. We hope you can join us for this once in a lifetime wellness experience!

These courses are designed to facilitate your understanding of the lifestyles and mindset of people in the Blue Zones, where the most Centenarians and Super Centenarians live. Once the theoretical considerations are learned, students are encouraged to apply the knowledge and longevity lessons from the Sardinian and Ikarian Blue Zone to practical applications back in the U.S.

Additional Costs: (not included in program fee)
The Italian island Sardinia is located within the Mediterranean Sea. The northern coast is touristy, whereas the inland is more authentic and mountainous. Ikaria is a small island within the Aegean Sea that is only 24 miles long and 8 miles wide. The northern Ikaria coast is populated with some tourists, whereas the southern Ikaria coast is relatively undisturbed.

When in the Blue Zones of Sardinia and Ikaria, you will seek and interview older adults, Centenarians, and/or Super Centenarians to link theory with practice. You will also experience Italian and Greek cultures, food, delve into hot thermal springs with purported healing qualities, encounter dramatic rocky cliffs and crystal clear water, visit a winery, honey house, and hospital. You will experience rich histories and traditions that span over thousands of years. Housing is included, and you have the opportunity to travel to surrounding areas before and/or after the program as desired.
