Page Plus Cellular is an MVNO using the Verizon network that Irsquove been using for the pastfour years With light usage Irsquove been paying $30 per year ($10 pay-as-you-go plans that aregood for 120 days) Itrsquos time to upgrade my phone however and Irsquom considering leavingthem for Republic Wireless

Yes Page Plus is a great option for light usage I also did this $30 per year plan But then Iswitched to RingPlus and I love it It is a free service (after initial $15 deposit) I get 1500minutes 1500 texts and 1500MB which is more than I would ever use Some might say

Page Plus has been a reliable Verizon MVNO they would have been on this list in the pastHowever their Pay As You Go plan (the ones you describe) now only work on older 3Gphones Page Plus sells 2000 minutes good for 1 year for $80 but again only for 3Gphones Selectel wins out here because their 2000 minute 3G plan for 1 year costs $75and they actually have a 4G option for $100 per year

Not exactly Page Plus dollars roll-over as long as you add more money Eventually ifyou are light usage user you wouldnrsquot have to add the full $80 and you could go toadding only $30 a year

It is only for 3G though

Puretalk is an ATampT MVNO Amongst their plans Low usage ndashgt $10mo for 300 minutes(texts count as 13 of a minute) Higher usage ndashgt $29mo for unlimited talk and text and 1GBdata These are also out-the-door prices with all the ldquojunk feesrdquo (taxes etc) included

I agree with Mike mdash I have been quite satised with PureTalk Itrsquos the best basic deal Irsquovefound so far I currently have four PureTalk phones with basic voice amp text service mdash onefor each family member mdash for a total of $25 a month (including the basic Samsung ldquoold-schoolrdquo ip phones) Thatrsquos just over $6 per phone and service plan per month And theyare easy to reach on-line or by phone (and have been very helpful) I havenrsquot seen a betterdeal out there

You donrsquot need to choose any plan with Lycamobile it just reverts back to their Pay As YouGo structure You simply load up some funds onto your SIM and make calls as neededand they will charge you on a per minute and per text basis You balance should neverexpire as long as you have some sort of activity every 90 days

There are really two options when you have a cell phone either payas you go or pay monthly There are advantages to both dependingon your situation

The simplest option is to join a pay as you go scheme Therersquos nocontract to sign up to and you simply pay for the calls and texts thatyou make paying in advance and topping up your credit when youneed to A phone is not included in pay as you go deals so you willneed to use one you already have or source one from elsewhereItrsquos a great option if yoursquore going to be travelling through a lot ofdierent countries as there is no minimum time restriction on howlong you have the phone and itrsquos also a great option if you donrsquot seeyourself making a lot of calls

den I am probably a little late on this one I have been on T-Mobilersquos Pay As You Go $3 amonth plan for 16 months Since my eyes arenrsquot so good I have messaging and text shuto Itrsquos evident that Irsquom not going to nd anything cheaper I will say this prepaid accountsare treated like ldquostepchildrenrdquo We are at the lower end of the ladder The only thing to dobefore you may go with T-Mobile DO YOUR RESEARCH In fact any time you changecarriers do the research I have the T-Mobile app in my Stylo 3 Plus phone that worksOne more thing if you bring your own phone make sure it is compatible with theirnetwork Overall I think itrsquos pretty good

Irsquom impressed to nd this collection of useful information My only concerns are two I wantto continue using Verizonrsquos network but Irsquom not impressed with their selection of basicphones I might buy the Kyocera DuraXV However I visit a lake where only the newestVerizon phones can connect to their towers in many parts of the lake Also Verizon is rapidlyreplacing 3G bandwidth with 4G and as a result my 3G speeds have dropped to almost zeroI want a basic phone but I must be able to do basic web searches to navigate Most basicphones have basic web browsing capability Unfortunately Verizonrsquos selection of basicphones leaves me wanting to look elsewhere We need basic phones that can connect to thelatest antenna technology

Tracfone is another good MVNO to look at It accesses several major networks includingVerizon ATampT and T-Mobile If you have a smartphone or you bring your own phone (BYOP)the minutes on the pay as you go and monthly plans triple in every bucket the minutes textmessages and data buckets For instance I purchased the 400-minute one year card andreceived 1200 minutes 1200 text messages and 1200 MB of data to use for the next yearThere are also smartphone and BYOP only plans that donrsquot triple You can often nddiscounts on Tracfone plans through eBay

I followed your Links and still could not nd the bargainsPlans you are talking about Wantedto try the ldquoLight Usage ndash Selectel $75 a year for a bucket of 2000 minutes and 2000 texts forthe entire yearrdquo but could not nd it anywhere on their website

Page Plus Cellular also has an $80 prepaid card with 2000 minutes that expire in 365days However note that they state ldquoThis is a 3G-only plan You cannot activate a 4Gdevice on this planrdquo If you have an older ip phone this is perfect

For Pageplus it doesnrsquot expire in 365 days You just have to add more money within365 days to keep whatever balance that has been unused It rolls-over

This is most denitely not my experience with Page Plus in CA When I run out ofminutes either talk or text and have to add onto a plan I lose whatever minutesare left over and must start a new ldquomonthrdquo talk text or data Irsquom not a heavy user atall but I do run out They charge for 611 customer and checking balance

My point above is with regards to phones using only prepaid cash cards (nomonthly plan) ie $10 $25 $50 $80 rell cards With the 102550 cards youneed to add another cash card within 120 days or you lose your entire balanceWith the 80 card you need to add within 365 days I kept an excel spreadsheetfor years showing when I added new money (the old money neverdisappeared it always rolled-over permanently as long as I kept adding moneybefore the last cash cardrsquos expiration date)

Hi I am a non-smart phone user and want to stay that way I have had the same LG Cosmosphone for years and want to keep it itrsquos very durable and would like to keep using it Foryears Irsquove paid $35month to Verizon for texting and calling but no data (my phone canrsquot dodata or internet it only takes and receives pictures and I like it that way) but I feel like thereMUST be a better plan out there for me that is cheaper I have higher usage of course thanthe person in this forum who keeps his phone as a backup in his carndash this is my everydayphone- so I need a reliable plan Not sure of usage exactly but I bet I send at least 500 textsper month and use 500 minutes per month Any suggestions

PS I have looked at Ting already My phone is not compatible so I would need to purchase anew basic phone That seems like the best option Irsquove found so far What else do yourecommend

After investigating several options I decided to buy a new tracfone through QVC Itcame with a one year service plan That meant the phone was basically free afterconsidering what a one year service plans costs Tracfone customer service can bespotty But Irsquove been with them several years now and when you consider costs I stillthink it is worthwhile One word of advice be sure to buy a phone with more memorythan you think you will need I have found that 8 GB is not enough for me I keptrunning up against storage problems This time I bought a Galaxy Sky with 16 GB Sofar I donrsquot have storage problems

any ipbasic phones I could purchase from a retail location and activate under pageplus orslecttel Ideally Irsquom looking for a Verizon pay as you go but ATT carriers work for me too Itseems like the only way to purchase a device under pay as you go through a retail is by goingwith Tracfone

I would check out puretalkusa they run o ATT and have several options and if your a seniorthey have even a 5 buck a month plan and I think senior starts at 55yrs cant remember forsure Got hubby on that plan as he likes a ip phone I been meaning to go that route toothey have both 3G and 4 G lite I believe

I am currently with almost no service By almost I mean that I went and got a pay as you gowith T-mobile for $3 a month I did not read too well into detail but noticed that i am getting30 mintext no data for 30 days I thought it was a good deal but not enough text that i needI prefer the T-mobile network as i get good coverage I dont use much about 300 texts amonth a rarely use phone unless making needed calls for making appts and ordering out Iuse Wi- most of the time I am stuck at looking for better deals I have looked into TingTello LycaMobile US and Freedompop

If anyone can help me out in choosing one that will be great

US Mobile is the best for using your cell phone for talking only I joined with US Mobile abouta year ago and will not join AARP again because they say Consumer Cellular is the best andpay 1500 for 250 minutes and I pay 1026 for 1000 minutes

If US Mobile has the same nationwide access as ATampT then I may switch from ConsumerCellular as well I have been using Consumer Cellular strictly for voice communications(~600minmonth) and pay $19month (AARP member) for a grand total of $2390monthwhich includes unlimited talk 300 texts and 30MB of data I occasionally text and neveruse data Still cheap compared to the $67month I paid ATampT for 1500 minutesmonthalbeit with rollover minutes Irsquoll be looking into US Mobile

Alex Irsquom w you I owned a ip phone since AirTouch And to this day periodically remind theExecutive Team at Verizon that there a lot of people who donrsquot want smart phones but acheat and reliable ip phone No worries about OS being corrupt or constant softwareupdates Did I mention the cost of insurance for smart phones that can be $200
