bright yellow sun. In other words, plenty of color. Michaela ®Maginot, a qualified graphic designer, used CorelDRAW Graphics

Suite for that too. “Freehand and Mesh Fill functions came in very handy for the surfaces and colors,” she says. She also

®used CorelDRAW Graphics Suite for the menu navigation, where she added other effects like Transparency. Michaela exported the files as PNGs or TGAs. “Compatibility with the programs was no problem at all,” she comments. “That was pretty new for me, as I've never worked in that way before. I

®was working with my CorelDRAW Graphics Suite and Till, as ® ®the game designer, was using his Adobe Photoshop . At the

beginning I thought: this is never going to work. It did though! We and the programs all worked well together!”

Michaela is a graphic designer and artist in her day job – she designs everything from advertising campaigns to marketing materials, especially for IT companies. So designing computer games hadn't been part of her repertoire before Frog ClaSh – but she found it really easy. A big part of that was the high

®level of compatibility between CorelDRAW Graphics Suite and ® ®Adobe Photoshop , as well as the wide range of creative options

in the Artistic Media tool. “Artistic Media allowed me to create lines of several different thicknesses and work with much more freedom.” She was also impressed with the broad choice of fonts, which she used for elements like logos and number combinations.

Once she was finished with the graphic design, her brother Till set to work on programming and turning the designs into three-dimensional frogs and backgrounds. The 28-year-old is a qualified multimedia engineer and works as a 2D and 3D graphic designer, web designer and programmer, as well as developer of games. He used the games development tool Unity3D for Frog ClaSh. “That meant I could quickly try out the graphic elements in a simulated game,” he explains.

More games on the horizonAlthough the game is approved for children of four and older, you do need a fair bit of manual dexterity to achieve a good score – especially as you advance through the higher levels. The frogs have become popular in Japan and China, as well as in Germany, and the game has already been downloaded over 340,000 times. It's often been mentioned in the “What's Hot” section of game review sites too. Frog ClaSh has its own

®website – created by Michaela Maginot with CorelDRAW Graphics Suite, of course – as well as a newsletter and mailings.

®“For this type of thing, CorelDRAW Graphics Suite is really easy to use,” says the experienced graphic designer. “For example, we did a postcard-based promotional campaign where I crea-ted high-resolution images from the 3D figures, copied them into the PDF for the print shop, and three days later I had the finished postcards on my desk. Fantastic!”

Michaela and Till complement each other well and work to-®gether just as harmoniously as CorelDRAW Graphics Suite

® ®with Adobe Photoshop . There are more games in the pipeline – a casual game and a more complex one for the iPad. But the sibling rivalry kicks in when they're playing against each other. “That's what I really like,” says Till with disarming honesty. “I just keep playing until I get a higher score than my sister!”
