Our Philosophy

“Children should not be housed and told what to do, but rather happily grow, strengthen and develop in the sunlight, opening up like a flower under the careful hand of an attentive gardener.” (Friedrich Fröbel)

Our philosophy is rooted in progressive ideas developed by Friedrich Fröbel, the renowned educator who shaped the kindergarten concept almost 200 years ago. His holistic approach to early learning is inspiring us even today: child-centred, play-based, in unity with nature. We appreciate children as free, active, feeling and thinking human beings, seeing patterns and drawing conclusions. Early learning at FROEBEL supports all capabilities of children: aesthetic, creative, cultural, imaginative, linguistic, mathematical, moral, musical, physical, scientific, social, spiritual and symbolic. We want children to experience joy, wonder, concentration, unity and satisfaction - and activities that have sense, purpose and meaning to her or him.

Our teachers and educators guide children on their journey of exploring the world – very much like a gardener who is nurturing seeds and seedlings in his garden to make them flourish in all their individuality. Excellent qualifications of our teams, educational professionalism and state-of-the-art training ensures that the children are ideally supported in their play and learning adventures.

We design the children’s daily activities in a way that children discover and develop their individual abilities. We believe in the uniqueness of each child’s capacity and potential and advocate active educational partnerships with the parents by building a partnership of care. We encourage children to be self-active, self-educating individuals, and recognise the importance of play as a central, integrating element in your child’s development and learning.

Bilingual early learning with the Immersion Concept

We strongly focus on immersive bilingual early learning. Language has a critical period for learning. Studies show that babies and children are geniuses at acquiring a second language until they turn 7, and then there is a systematic decline. FROEBEL ensures that your child gets a head-start in her/his linguistic abilities, tolerance and multicultural awareness.

Native German-speaking educators and their English-speaking colleagues work and speak with the children in their respective mother tongue only (“One person – One language”). Thus, every child is immersed in a second language on a daily basis, gets familiar with the language melody, and learns it in a playful way without the need of „language classes“. We strongly believe that language learning should not be forced upon a child; we offer opportunities to learn.

FROEBEL’s approach is a child-specific and age-appropriate method of early language learning. The new language is introduced by native-speaking educators who use their language consistently in everyday situations, make the new language an integral and natural element of the children’s environment. All activities are conducted in English or German. The child experiences the language in a playful way, through children’s songs, games, media, as well as specific design of the interiors in both languages. Our educators support their communication with the children through mimics, gestures and daily routines. The learning of the new language follows the same principles as the learning of the child‘s first language. Children use the experience they recently gained in mastering their primary language, and therefore abilities they already possess and develop.
