Friends of the Library is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization made up of library patrons who
support the interests of the Friendswood Public Library. Through the use of membership drives, fundraisers and book sales, the organization is able to provide additional programs and activi-
ties that would otherwise not be available.

The Children's Department offered 667 programs throughout the year for children of
all ages, which were attended by 34,428 people. For our youngest patrons, we held week-
ly and monthly storytimes and crafts with Rattle & Rhyme, Toddler Time, Preschool Storytime, Dia de los Ninos, Pancakes & Pajamas, Wacky Wednesday, Spanish Storytime, and STEAM nights. For those unable to make it to the library for all of these programs we also visited area preschools, daycares, and elementary schools to do regular sto-rytimes.
Families with older kids and teens
attended Zaki Con, Friday afternoon crafts and games, the Sherlock Holmes Book and Art Club, the Teen Advisory Group and more. We worked with area junior highs and intermediate schools to have programming for this age group including Brookside Book Club and Friday Lunch Book Club.
The library was one of 41 Texas public libraries to qualify for the Texas Municipal Library Di-rectors Association “2018 Achievement of
Library Excellence Award”. The library demon-strated excellence in 10 service catego-
ries including underserved popula-tions, summer reading, cultural and
507 programs and classes were offered and attended by 6,157 people.

computer literacy classes, bi-monthly clas-sic movie nights, quarterly poetry read-ings, bi-monthly Workforce Solu-tions Job search seminars, summer reading challenge, Score Business workshops, weekly meditation pro-grams, family drum circle, and weekly chess club.
Provided monthly cultural and educational
programs featuring local resident authors, poets, veterans, historians, genealogists, health care professionals, artists, musi-cians, master gardeners, astronauts, and scientists.
