The inauguration ceremony was conducted on the 6th of September, 2014. The students had gathered in the campus at 8:45am. And at 9am the Chief Guest, Prof. G. Lourduswami, State Administrator, Friends Of Police (TN) and , Rev. Dr. G. Joseph Antony Samy S.J., Principal, Loyola College hoisted the Friends Of Police flag . The program was preceded to Y.D Hall, Loyola College with Hussain Kotawala and Jeyanth as the Masters of the Ceremony. The welcome speech was presented by P. Kamal Raj, President of FOP, Loyola College Unit. Following the welcome speech a song of prayer was sung by students with the help of Levi Mozrres from the Commerce Department. And further, the Tamil Anthem was also sung. Dr. J.M.V. Kalaiarasi, Coordinator Shift I elaborated on the objectives of the organisation. The Chief Guest introduction was delivered by Ms. J. Vanitha, Coordinator Shift II. Rev. Dr. J. Joseph Antony Samy S.J. delivered the presidential address.

OATH TAKING CEREMONY

Prof. G. Lourduswami read the oath to be sworn by Dr. J.M.V. Kalaiarasi and Ms. J. Vanitha, Coordinators of Friends of Police, Loyola College Unit. The Principal read the oaths to be taken by the office bearers. Following the oath taking ceremony, the Chief Guest, Prof. G. Lourduswami addressed the gathering. After that, the former office bearers, Jeevith Anguram, Ahmed Nizar, Robert Lenin and Joy Bruno were felicitated. The ceremony was drawn to an end with the vote of thanks delivered by Francis Ryan Keith, Secretary of FOP, Loyola College Unit. The ceremony ended with the National Anthem.

ORIENTATION

Orientation for the Friends of Police members of Loyola College was conducted on the 15th of September, 2014. Mr. Raghunath, Liason Officer was the resource person. The orientation took place at two timings to suit the students of shift I and shift II. The orientation for shift II students was at 11am and for shift I students at 2pm.

The students gathered at Y.D. Hall. A video about the organisation was played to the students and the resource person explained about the modalities, concepts, and responsibilities to the students with the help of a PowerPoint presentation. He also highlighted how the fop members should act in between public and police as a

connecting link. The students clarified their doubts with Mr. Raghunath about their activities. The session lasted for an hour and a half for each shift. PARADE

The first parade for the year was organised on the 20th of September, 2014. The students gathered in the college by 7am and were underway. After a brief talk, the intense parade practice lasted for 4 hours with a fifteen minute break between two halves. The students were dispersed by 11am. The parade was conducted almost all Saturdays except working days. FOP – STATE LEVEL INTERCOASTAL CLEANUP

Friends of Police, Loyola College Unit joined hands with Indian Maritime Foundation and Ocean Conservancy to conduct the Coastal Clean-up on the 27th of September, 2014. The students gathered at the Labourer’s Statue, Marina Beach by 6:45am. The chief guest for the occasion was Prof. G. Lourduswami, State Administrator, Friends of Police (TN) accompanied by Mr. Raghunath, Liason Officer. Rev. Dr. G. Joseph Antony Samy S.J., Principal, Loyola College and Rev. Dr.

Albert William S.J., Secretary, Loyola College blessed the occasion with their valuable presence. The chief guest addressed the gathering and the clean-up was underway after a few more words of instruction from the Coordinators. Along with the students of Friends of Police, Loyola College Unit, there were the joint hands of FOP students from Alpha Engineering College, St. Thomas College, ENVIRO Club of Loyola College and students from M.Sc. Advanced Zoology from Loyola College. The people gathered did their part for the coastal clean-up and the gathered trash was put in trash bags and handed over to the concerned persons. The students dispersed by 10:30pm. They also made aware the crowd about the critical position of our environment and the need of the hour is to work for a sustainable environment. FOP–VENUE DISCIPLINE FOR “OVATIONS 2014-2015”

As part of the disciplinary committee for Ovations 2015, Friends of Police, Loyola College Unit was on duty on the two day event on 30th September and 1st October, 2014. A total of 60 students on each day were on duty for the event. Starting from 8am each day, being placed at different spots around the campus, the students ensured that the other students. The FOP students were also part of the VIP escort. The students worked tirelessly with the Coordinators’ and office bearers’ instructions up until 9pm on each day and helped make the event a grand success. They maintained the complete discipline in the venue their service enabled the organisers to conduct the ovations 2014 in very smooth way .the FOP coordinators, office bearers and students were well appreciated by all officials of Loyola College.

ONE DAY WORKSHOP ON “DRIVING IS A SILENT ART”

A workshop on driving is a silent art was conducted on the 6th December 2014

to create awareness amidst FOP students and to make them learn the art of driving with safety. J. krishnamoorty was the chief guest. With a video show he elaborated how important the concentration and alertness is necessary during driving. He also taught them a few tips to avoid accidents. Prof. J Jerald Inico, Deputy Dean of Students, Loyola College participated, greeted the students and wished the coordinators. The chief guest and the deputy dean were honoured by the coordinators and the office barriers.

SPORTS DAY CELEBERATION OF LOYOLA COLLEGE

For the first time in Loyola history friends of Police Loyola Unit made an entry in March Past and gave a demonstration on their efficient marching and were well appreciated. They also made an entry to make aware the staffs (academic and administrative) and students the importance of wearing a helmet they also insisted it is needed to wear helmet not alone for the driver but also the one who travels as doubles. Around 60 students participated in marching on the 2oth (shift I) & 21st (shift II) sports day. Apart from participation in marching the FOP students also helped the physical director right from the morning in making the venue ready for sports day (shift I & shift II) on 20th and 21st February. THE IMPORTANT RESPONSIBILITY UNDERTAKEN BY FOP

On the sports days (shift I & shift II) 20th and 21st February the FOP students ( all members 125) were involved in the distribution of snacks to all students, staffs (academic and administrative) VIPs and Sports men ( around 7000 people) in a very successful way. NIGHT PATROLLING” AND “TRAFFIC CONTROL”

“Night Patrolling” And “Traffic Control’ Was Done By Each Student As

Compulsory Requirement Directed By State Administrator
