PRINCIPALS REPORT Building Progress Our building works are now moving ahead quick- ly and we are all looking forward to moving in next term. I know that all of our Prep to Year 2 parents will agree that our students are doing remarkably well in their temporary classrooms. Whenever I visit these classes, I am amazed to see how quietly our students are working and how engaged they are in their learning. This week I visited the 1/2 classes while they were writing about animals and each student, was trying hard to use some “powerful words” in their writing. Our preps are continuing to move ahead in leaps and bounds. Yesterday I had a quick discussion with them about their goals. They can now all sit beautifully in a “five point check” and they have (almost) mastered putting up their hands and waiting quietly for their teachers to ask them to talk, instead of calling out. Although we have enjoyed the team teaching aspect of our temporary classrooms, we are all looking forward to moving back into our newly refur- bished building at the beginning of next term Sporting Successes Two weeks ago, we managed to include a pro- gress report on the District Cross Country, but at the time of writing the newsletter, not all of the races were finished. All of our students tried their best on the day and many ran personal bests placing very highly in the events, but congratula- tions to Ethan Zafer in Year 6 who finished sec- ond in his event and together with Summer Wil- son (who was in the newsletter a fortnight ago) will compete at the Zone level next week. We wish both Ethan and Summer all the best at this next level. Both Ethan and Summer enjoy run- ning and can always be seen at our jogging club in the mornings. Our students took part in the District Field Athlet- ics competition last Wednesday at Ballam Park. We had a team of approximately 55 students who represented the school in High Jump, Long Jump, Triple Jump, Shot Put and Discus. Our students competed very well, with many also achieving personal best distances in their events. On the day, two districts participate at Ballam Park and the top three placegetters will continue at the Zone level. Many of our students placed in the top four in their event, but we are still waiting for results from both sections before we find out who will represent Frankston Primary School at the Zone level. Well done to all of our team. Our Aerobics teams are travelling to Geelong this Saturday to take part in the State Finals. We will keep our fingers crossed that our girls can do the very best they can. Choir Congratulations to our Choir for participating in the Mornington Peninsula Choral Festival on Tuesday night. The choir did a wonderful job and sang beautifully. We are very proud of our choir and our students who are part of this have enjoyed per- forming in front of large audiences. Prep Tours This week we have continued to conduct several prep tours for our prep intake for 2018 and our numbers for 2018 are steadily increasing. At this stage we would also like our sibling enrolments to pick up an enrolment pack at the office so that we can begin to process your enrolments as well. This way we will be able to plan effectively for 2018. Canteen We have a wonderful group of parents and even a past grandparent who do a wonderful job in preparing our special morning snacks in the canteen. I would like to acknowledge the work of this group and thank them for their wonderful efforts. The best thing about all of you is that you always have a smile. Thanks for all your hard work we really appreciate your involvement especially the children. Lost Property There are 26 jumpers and 7 coats in lost property. The coats are all very good quality coats and need to be claimed. Most of the items in lost property do not have names on them and of those that do, are so washed out and faded that they are impossible to read. If your child has lost their jumper or a coat recently, please come into the office to have a look though the ones that are there. Hope you all have a good weekend. OUR PERFORMING CHOIR

On Tuesday 30th May, the Frankston Primary School Performing Choir participated in the Mornington Peninsula Choral Festival at Toorak College. We were one of 35 schools and community choirs involved in this fantastic event. Our students sang beautifully and it was a wonderful, inspiring and educational experience to see and hear so many other choirs perform.

Congratulations to all our students in the Performing Choir! Sally Grage-Moore (Performing Arts Specialist Teacher)

APPLES APPLES APPLES We are so excited to announce that apple growers ‘Montague Fresh’ have made a generous donation of fresh Jazz apples to our school. Our students certainly benefit from the generosity of these sorts of donations and we can’t thank them enough. Our 5/6 students indulged in them as they were watching part of the ABC series called ‘A War On Waste.’

OUR SUSTAINABILITY TIP OF THE WEEK

Gian and Alex shared a great Sustainability Tip at assembly this week……..Did you know that you can recycle plastic bags, biscuit wrappers and any other plastic packaging from your food?

Well the answer is YES!!! At Coles Supermarkets you can drop your plastic wrappers etc into the recycle plastics bins provided. These are then collected and recycled. They make all sorts of things out of them, even plastic seating and benches that you see in

some of our parks. Remember next time you are in Frankston to see if you can find the Plastics Recycle Bin outside Coles.
